Seattle beats RSL to end losing streak; Almiron hat trick as Atlanta rolls

Nick Rimando stood strong in net for Real Salt Lake, but a deflected goal by Harry Shipp earned Seattle all three points.

Harry Shipp scored on a well-struck shot that was deflected into goal in the 42nd minute as the Seattle Sounders snapped a three-game losing streak on Saturday with a 1-0 win against Real Salt Lake.

The play that led to Shipp's second goal of the season started with a corner kick from the right side from Nicolas Lodeiro. His drive into the penalty area was headed right back out to him, and he again sent it toward the goal.

Sounders defender Gustav Svensson headed the ball out to the top of...

Nikolic brace as Fire beat Rapid; SKC downs Sounders with Gerso hat trick

The Chicago Fire were in dominant form from start to finish against a tepid Rapid's, and punished by lethal Nemanja Nikolic.

The Chicago Fire rode roughshod over the struggling Colorado Rapids at Toyota Park on Wednesday night, as a Nemanja Nikolic brace helped them to an easy 3-0 win.

Nikolic opened the scoring for the hosts in the 15th minute, heading home from a pinpoint Brandon Vincent cross to put his team up 1-0.

David Accam was in the right place at the right time for Chicago's second, the Fire striker found himself alone and blasted home from the far post following a slick team move in...

Bastian Schweinsteiger 'happy' about busy Chicago Fire match schedule

Controversy surrounded Chicago's first goal of the night, but the Fire struck for three second-half goals to bury Seattle.

Four games in 13 days might seem hectic by MLS standards, but Chicago Fire midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger said he doesn't think so.

"For you maybe, but for me, actually, it's quite normal," Schweinsteiger told the (Chicago) Daily Herald. "In the beginning [of the season], when we were playing Saturday, Saturday, Saturday, I didn't know what to do on Tuesday. It was a little bit strange for me.

"I'm actually looking forward [to it]. I love to play games. I mean training sessions are always good,...

Toronto FC wins club-record sixth straight; Chicago trounces Seattle

Tosaint Ricketts' header proved the winner as Toronto outlasted Minnesota in a back-and-forth goal frenzy.

Tosaint Ricketts turned in a Jozy Altidore cross to help Toronto FC hold off Minnesota United 3-2 for a club-record sixth straight win on Saturday.

Altidore, who only came on as a substitute for the injured Sebastian Giovinco, bullied his way through the expansion club's defenders before delivering for Ricketts to head in the winning goal in the 77th minute.

Kevin Molino scored both of Minnesota's goals to twice erase Toronto's lead, but United could not find a third answer at MLS-leading Toronto.
