New York Red Bulls sealed the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with a win over Western leaders Vancouver.

The New York Red Bulls secured the last remaining MLS playoff spot in the Eastern Conference by defeating the Vancouver Whitecaps 3-0 on Saturday.

The Red Bulls are in the playoffs for the eighth straight year, while the result also ended the slim playoff hopes of four other teams in the East -- Montreal, New England, Orlando and Philadelphia.

New York took the lead in the 33rd minute when Sacha Kljestan spotted Daniel Royer racing into the box, and the Austrian scored for the second straight game.

Yordy Reyna's third goal in four matches stood up as the match winner for Vancouver at home against Colorado.

Colorado Rapids forward Kevin Doyle says he is retiring from professional football because of repeated concussions.

Doyle is from Ireland and has played 16 years both in Europe and in Major League Soccer. He released a statement via social media on Thursday.

"This year it has been clear to me that heading the ball was becoming problematic and causing me to have repeated headaches," Doyle wrote. "Two concussions this season and numerous other over the years have made this more concerning."

Toronto suffers late loss at Revolution; D.C.'s Patrick Mullins scores four goals

Kei Kamara proved the winner in New England and Toronto's late back-and-forth goal exchange.

Toronto FC missed a chance to secure the MLS Supporters' Shield on Saturday, falling 2-1 to the New England Revolution.

Needing a victory to claim the trophy for best regular-season record for the first time in club history, Toronto quickly answered New England's 82nd-minute opener, only for Kei Kamara to net the winner in the 87th.

With Toronto again resting stars Sebastian Giovinco and Jozy Altidore, it was largely a drab affair until Lee Nguyen found the breakthrough with a deflected shot for...
