Colorado Rapids add Conor Doyle in trade with D.C. United

Conor Doyle will join the Colorado Rapids in the upcoming MLS season.

The Colorado Rapids acquired forward Conor Doyle from D.C. United on Tuesday in the second trade between the MLS clubs this month.

D.C. United will receive a third-round draft pick in 2017 for Doyle.

Last week, D.C. added midfielder Marcelo Sarvas from Colorado for targeted allocation money and a 2018 draft pick.

The 24-year-old Doyle scored four MLS goals for D.C. since joining the club in July 2013. He made 25 appearances in the regular season last year and scored twice in the CONCACAF Champions...

Timing right for Tim Howard to move to MLS soon

Former U.S. international Brian McBride thinks the Colorado Rapids' reported interest in Tim Howard could lead to a deal.

And while the exact timing and salary details remain up in the air -- and we don't know whether the deal will take place, as Toffees manager Roberto Martinez recently said he wasn't aware of the Rapids inquiring about Howard -- it presents an interesting question: Should the New Jersey native move back to MLS soon?

Here's a look at the underlying factors involved, the biggest adjustments Howard will face if he comes back to MLS, and what his outlook would be if he returns stateside.

Colorado Rapids deal midfielder Marcelo Sarvas to D.C. United

Marcelo Sarvas, right, has joined D.C. United.

The Colorado Rapids sent midfielder Marcelo Sarvas to D.C. United on Monday in exchange for targeted allocation money.

Sarvas, 34, played in 25 games for the Rapids last season after spending the three previous years with the LA Galaxy, where he won two MLS Cups.

He scored twice after missing the beginning of the season following knee surgery.

"Marcelo brings MLS experience and a veteran presence to our group," said D.C. United general manager Dave Kasper. "He is a tenacious player who has been...

Shkelzen Gashi signs for Colorado Rapids as a Designated Player

Shkelzen Gashi, right, will join the Colorado Rapids in time for the 2016 season.

The Colorado Rapids have signed Albania international forward Shkelzen Gashi from Swiss side FC Basel, the MLS club announced on Monday.

Gashi has been signed to a Designated Player contract, making him the team's second DP after forward Kevin Doyle.

The 27-year-old has led the Swiss Super League in scoring in each of the past two seasons.

Last week, the Rapids loaned another DP, Juan Ramirez, to Spanish second-division side Almeria.
