Zulfahmi Arifin leaves S.League side Hougang United to play for Thai club Chonburi FC.

Zulfahmi Arifin has become the latest Singapore international to head to Thailand after signing a deal with Thai League (T1) side Chonburi FC.

Zulfahmi, 26, leaves S.League side Hougang United to follow goalkeepers Hassan Sunny and Izwan Mahbud, who have joined Army United and Nongbua Pitchaya in Thailand's second tier.

Chonburi are a more prestigious club, having been Thai champions in 2007 and runners-up on no fewer than five occasions in the last 10 years.

Champions Muang Thong United stayed within four points of Buriram United after sharing the spoils.

Muang Thong United striker Leandro Assumpcao struck a late equaliser to prevent Buriram United from moving seven points clear at the top of the Thai League (T1) on Sunday evening.

At a packed SCG Stadium, the league leaders went ahead through a Rafael Bastos free kick at the beginning of the second half. The visitors squandered several chances to extend their lead before Assumpcao rescued a point with two minutes remaining.

Leandro Assumpcao hit a deadly double as three goals in a five-minute spell helped Muang Thong United defeat his former side Chonburi 3-1 to keep the champions just two points off top spot in the Thai League (T1).
