The Chicago Fire selected Jack Harrison from Wake Forest as the No. 1 overall pick in the MLS SuperDraft.

BALTIMORE -- Trades were the order of the day at the 2016 MLS SuperDraft.

The Chicago Fire selected Wake Forest midfielder Jack Harrison with the first pick of the 2016 MLS SuperDraft, only to trade him to New York City FC for general allocation money and the No. 4 overall pick.

Chicago used that selection to pick Stanford defender Brandon Vincent.

Brian Bliss joins Sporting KC as personnel director

Brian Bliss has left the Chicago Fire to join Sporting Kansas City.

Brian Bliss has joined Sporting Kansas City as the the club's director of player personnel, the team announced on Tuesday.

He will assist in scouting as well as overseeing player personnel matters and helping the club's academy, the club said.

The former United States international worked as the Chicago Fire's technical director for the past two seasons and took over as interim coach after Frank Yallop was fired in September.

Serbian football is on the rise thanks to under-20 World Cup-winning manager Veljko Paunovic.
Veljko Paunovic led Serbia to the Under-20 World Cup in the summer.

The Chicago Fire hired Serbian manager Veljko Paunovic as their new coach on Tuesday.

Paunovic, 38, led Serbia to the Under-20 World Cup crown this summer, when his squad beat the United States on penalties in the quarterfinals.

He replaces Frank Yallop, who was fired in September while Chicago went on to finish with the worst record in Major League Soccer.

FC Dallas' Bakary Soumare announces retirement on 30th birthday

Bakary Soumare moved from Montreal to FC Dallas in a midseason trade.

FC Dallas defender Bakary Soumare says he will retire at the end of the season because of recurring injuries.

Soumare annnounced he was ending his career with an Instagram post on Monday, his 30th birthday.

"Recent health setbacks have made this a necessity," he wrote.

Soumare, a former Mali international, played in college at Virginia and was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2007 MLS SuperDraft. He played with the Chicago Fire until moving to France with Boulogne in 2009.
