Chicago Fire venue to be renamed SeatGeek Stadium after season

Bastian Schweinsteiger and the Chicago Fire were still looking for their first win of the season when they welcomed Federico Higuain and the Columbus Crew to Toyota Park.

The Chicago Fire's home venue will be known as SeatGeek Stadium as of next season.

SeatGeek and the Village of Bridgeview, which owns the stadium, announced on Thursday that the secondary market ticket seller has taken over the naming rights to Toyota Park.

Toyota bought the naming rights when the stadium opened in 2006, and Bridgeview retained the name even after the car manufacturer chose not to renew its deal in 2016.

Chicago Fire sign veteran free agent forward Alan Gordon

Alan Gordon spent the majority of his career with the LA Galaxy.

The Chicago Fire have signed free agent Alan Gordon on a guaranteed contract through the 2018 season, the club announced on Friday.

The veteran MLS man spent last season with the Colorado Rapids, but played a majority of his career with the LA Galaxy, where he scored 40 goals in 200 appearances for the club.

"Alan's ability to link with the midfield while under pressure and his prowess in aerial duels are skill sets that we needed to add," Fire general manager Nelson Rodriguez said of the 36-year-old.

Chicago Fire take Aleksandar Katai on loan from Alaves

Aleksandar Katai moved to Alaves from Red Star Belgrade in 2016.

The Chicago Fire have reached an agreement with Alaves to take Aleksandar Katai on loan for the remainder of the Spanish season.

As part of the deal, Chicago will have the option to buy the remainder of Katai's contract after the loan expires on June 30.

Katai, 27, joined Alaves from Red Star Belgrade on a three-year deal at the summer transfer deadline in August 2016, but he has not started a game this season and has made only four substitute appearances in all competitions.
