Chicago Fire get former Real Salt Lake forward Yura Movsisyan off waivers

Bastian Schweinsteiger revealed it was a special occasion to play his Bayern Munich testimonial against current club Chicago Fire.

The Chicago Fire have claimed former Real Salt Lake forward Yura Movsisyan off waivers.

Movsisyan, 31, had spent the past six months on loan with Swedish club Djurgardens IF.

The Armenia international joined Real Salt Lake for the second time in January of 2016 and has played for Krasnodar, Danish side Randers FC and Sporting Kansas City (then the Kansas City Wizards) in his career.

Overall, he has made 146 MLS regular season and playoff appearances, scoring 37 goals.

Bastian Schweinsteiger was awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit in Munich on Monday, recognising his contributions to the region and its people.

Schweinsteiger, 34, was born and raised in Bavaria, came up through the Bayern Munich academy and spent parts of 13 seasons with the club, winning the Bundesliga eight times and the Champions League in 2013. He also won the World Cup with Germany in 2014.

Columbus Crew SC extends Chicago Fire winless run to nine games with late Hansen goal

Niko Hansen canceled out Nemanja Nikolic's opener as Columbus turned the tide to earn a share of the points at Toyota Park.

Niko Hansen scored in the 87th minute to give the Columbus Crew SC a 1-1 draw with Chicago at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Ill., on Thursday to extend the Fire's winless streak to nine games.
