Sounders, Timbers, Sporting KC, Dynamo clinch MLS playoff berths

Seattle secured their ninth consecutive trip to the MLS postseason, while Dallas no longer control their playoff destiny.

Will Bruin scored twice in four minutes midway through the second half and the Seattle Sounders clinched a playoff berth and a chance to defend their MLS Cup by beating FC Dallas 4-0 on Sunday.

The Sounders are tied for second place in the Western Conference with Portland at 50 points apiece with one game left, two points behind West-leading Vancouver.

Dallas still has not clinched a playoff spot and is tied with the San Jose Earthquakes for the final position at 43 points after Sunday's games.

Chicago Fire's Bastian Schweinsteiger 'not 100 percent' ahead of playoffs

David Villa scored his first goal in more than a month to help New York City FC secure a point at Chicago Fire.

Chicago Fire midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has admitted he's still not fully fit after suffering a calf injury in the club's 1-0 victory in Montreal on Sept. 2.

The former Germany international came on in the 71st minute of the Fire's 1-1 home draw with New York City FC. It was his first action in four matches since the injury.

With the international break this week, the Fire, who have already qualified for the playoffs, will have extra time to get their still-recovering star healthy for postseason...
