Chesterfield took another step towards securing a League One play-off spot as they fought out a 0-0 draw at Oldham.

The home side had the better of the first half and almost went in front when Connor Brown's 20-yard drive had to be turned round the post by Chesterfield keeper Tommy Lee.

Lee also made a flying 29th-minute save from Rhys Murphy as the Oldham striker connected with an acrobatic overhead kick.

Barnsley striker Sam Winnall ensured play-off chasing Chesterfield had to settle for a 1-1 draw at Oakwell.

Jay O'Shea gave the visitors a first-half lead, but Barnsley fought back to force a draw with Winnall equalising just after the hour-mark.
