Promotion-hunting Chesterfield survived a couple of close escapes to secure a point from a 0-0 draw at Coventry.

Paul Cook's Spireites, hovering just outside the play-off places, never created as much as the home side and saw their goal under serious threat on several occasions.

Coventry, whose manager Steven Pressley feels have been on the end of several harsh penalty decisions in recent weeks, thought their luck had changed in the 38th minute when striker Frank Nouble powered forward past Tendayi...

Chesterfield held off a Peterborough fight back to leapfrog their opponents with a 3-2 victory at the Proact Stadium.

The Spireites had a three-goal lead but Posh scored twice in the second half and almost earned a share of the spoils.

The country's leading goal scorer, Chesterfield's Eoin Doyle - returning after missing last Saturday's win at Gillingham, took just 10 minutes to get back on the goal trail.

Full-back Tendayi Darikwa made a strong run down the right and Doyle turned his low driven cross...

Jimmy Ryan struck a 69th-minute winner as Chesterfield edged a five-goal thriller to beat Gillingham 3-2 and claim their first away league victory since August.

Midfielder Ryan capped a pulsating second-half that saw four goals scored, with Gills pair Cody McDonald and John Egan responding to Sam Clucas' first-half opener and Leon Legge's own goal after the break.

Ryan, 26, fired home a well-executed volley for the final goal of the match with 21 minutes left as the Spireites also won in the league...

A spectacular second-half goal by Billy Clarke earned Bradford a 1-0 victory over 10-man Chesterfield.

Clarke celebrated his 27th birthday with a great finish shortly after Sam Morsy had been sent off in the 48th minute.

Bradford should have taken the lead in the sixth minute when Jon Stead was unmarked six yards out, but he put his header over the crossbar, while Armand Gnanduillet was also off target for Chesterfield in the 13th minute.

Jimmy Ryan had a 20-yard shot held by City goalkeeper Jordan...

Chesterfield set for personal hearing after fielding ineligible player charge

FA Cup holders Arsenal will face Hull City once more in a re-match of last year's final.

Chesterfield officials will attend a personal hearing at Wembley next week regarding their Football Association charge for fielding an ineligible player in the second round of the FA Cup.

The Spireites' place in the third round of the competition has been cast into doubt after they fielded on-loan Wolves defender Georg Margreitter in their 1-0 win over MK Dons on Saturday, despite allegations they had not received written permission from his parent club to do so.

The FA announced it had charged the...
