Valencia sign defender Aymen Abdennour from Monaco

Valencia have signed Aymen Abdennour from Monaco.

Valencia have announced the signing of Tunisia defender Aymen Abdennour, a player who had been linked with Chelsea as their pursuit of John Stones faltered.

Abdennour, 26, signed a five-year contract with Valencia, the club said, and joins from Monaco for an undisclosed fee.

"I chose Valencia CF out of all the offers I received, because it is a big club in Spain and Europe," Abdennour said on the club's website.

Jose Mourinho: Chelsea have had 'very bad start' to Premier League

Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho, talks about the defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace while claiming that his side deserved more.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho paid tribute to Crystal Palace, but lamented his own side's failings and the lack of a penalty award after a second loss in 100 Premier League home games.

Chelsea secured the title with a 1-0 defeat of Palace on May 3, but the Eagles were triumphant on this occasion, stunning the hosts just when they thought Radamel Falcao had got them back into the game with his first goal for the Blues.

FIFA medical committee to discuss Chelsea doctor row

The ESPN FC crew discuss Chelsea's underwhelming performance against Manchester City, who were led by key performances from Vincent Kompany and Sergio Aguero.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho's treatment of the club's team doctor Eva Carneiro is to be raised in FIFA's medical committee meeting next month, it has been revealed.

Caneiro's role at the club has been downgraded after Mourinho criticised her and head physio Jon Fearn for rushing on to the pitch to treat Eden Hazard in the opening match of the Premier League season -- the player had to leave the field as a result, meaning Chelsea were temporarily down to nine men against Swansea.

Jose Mourinho trains Chelsea with 10 men - 'penalties, red cards not normal'

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho thinks appealing John Terry's red card against West Brom would be a waste of time.
Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew hopes his side will perform better against Chelsea when they play each other this Saturday.
Last year no Premier League side made it past the Champions League round of 16. How will they fare this year?
ESPN FC's Gabriele Marcotti outlines what recent signing Juan Cuadrado will be bringing to Juventus, saying that the for the Italian club, the winger is a fairly foolproof investment.

LONDON -- Jose Mourinho says Chelsea have been working hard to solve their defensive problems this week, and even trained with just 10 men on the pitch.

In stark contrast to the resilience with which they closed out last season, the Premier League champions have conceded seven goals in their three games so far this term.

That figure represents 47 percent of the goals Chelsea conceded in the entirety of Mourinho's first season at Stamford Bridge in 2004-05.

The title holders have been reduced to...
