Diego Forlan's contract at J-League side Cerezo Osaka not extended

Diego Forlan has retired from the Uruguay squad and now he's looking for a new club as well.

OSAKA, Japan -- Uruguay forward Diego Forlan will not be offered a contract extension, the president of his J-League second-division side Cerezo Osaka said on Saturday.

Forlan's contract, worth a reported $5.8 million, expires at the end of July.

The 36-year-old Forlan joined Cerezo in 2014 from Brazil's Internacional and scored seven goals in 26 appearances in the top flight last season, but Cerezo were relegated to J2. He has scored 10 goals in 16 games this season.

Colorado Rapids turned down Diego Forlan but remain coy on Kevin Doyle

Diego Forlan's contract with Cerezo Osaka is due to expire in the summer.

Colorado Rapids claim to have rejected the chance to sign Cerezo Osaka striker Diego Forlan but are refusing to rule out a move for Wolves forward Kevin Doyle.

Diego Forlan believes Uruguay can grab World Cup glory in Brazil this year, even if they face a tough group to begin with.

Uruguay forward Diego Forlan, who was unveiled this week at J-League's Cerezo Osaka, has revealed he turned down a move to the Mexican League but would consider Major League Soccer.
