Napoli took care of Carpi with a 1-0 home win, while Juventus earned a 2-0 win on the road at Frosinone continuing their impressive streak.

Napoli squeezed past 10-man Carpi thanks only to a Gonzalo Higuain penalty at the Stadio San Paolo and remain two points clear of Juventus ahead of next weekend's Serie A title clash in Turin.

It proved to be a difficult match against 18th-placed Carpi in Naples and Maurizio Sarri's league leaders could have been usurped by Juve, victorious at Frosinone on Sunday, had Higuain not converted a 69th-minute spot-kick.

The 1-0 victory was achieved, however, and Napoli now have the opportunity to pull...

Substitute Mauro Zarate struck three minutes into stoppage time as Fiorentina edged past Serie A strugglers Carpi 2-1.

Carpi, down in 18th, were within seconds of extending their unbeaten league run to six games after Kevin Lasagna had cancelled out Borja Valero's early opener.

But Zarate rescued Fiorentina, whose coach Paulo Sousa was sent off for the second successive game, with a curling effort from the edge of the area.

The effort, in the dying seconds from the player who only joined La Viola from...

Matteo Mancosu's second-half penalty saw Carpi snatch a 1-1 draw against Palermo at the Stadio Alberto Braglia.

The hosts began brightly but went behind in the 24th minute as Oscar Hiljemark's pass found Alberto Gilardino free in the Carpi box before slotting home. The former Italy international reached 184 Serie A goals, equalling Gabriel Batistuta for 13th on the Serie A all-time scoring list.

Carpi pushed forward in numbers and got their reward in the second-half as Mancosu was fouled in the Palermo...

Napoli send Jonathan de Guzman out on loan to Carpi

Jonathan de Guzman has found playing time hard to come by at Napoli this season.

Jonathan de Guzman has joined Carpi in their relegation battle on loan from Napoli for the rest of the season.

The Netherlands midfielder has not appeared in a Serie A game this season but should boost Carpi's hopes of staying up, with the squad five points from safety in 18th place.

Also on Thursday, Carpi saw the departure of Luca Marrone, who had been on loan from Juventus.

The 25-year-old will join Hellas Verona on loan until the season concludes.

Earlier, Carpi sold Marco Borriello to Atalanta.

Former AC Milan and West Ham striker Marco Borriello joins Atalanta

Marco Borriello has called time on his short stay with Carpi by joining their Serie A rivals Atalanta.

The 33-year-old former AC Milan and West Ham striker signed for promoted Carpi in the summer and scored four league goals in 12 appearances.

But a move to Bergamo has tempted the seven-cap Italy international away and, after he passed a medical on Thursday morning, his transfer was confirmed on Atalanta's official website.
