Amadi-Holloway, Gillesphey, Aldred join Brisbane Roar

Brisbane Roar will have a distinctly British feel under new coach Robbie Fowler with a trio of United Kingdom-based players joining the A-League club on Tuesday.

The Liverpool legend has raided England's lower leagues to secure Welsh striker Aaron Amadi-Holloway and defender Macaulay Gillesphey while defender Tom Aldred has also signed on following his release from Scottish Premier League club Motherwell.

The trio join Irish striker Roy O'Donovan as new faces at the Roar under Fowler while Australian...

Carlisle were unable to hand manager Keith Curle a win to mark his final game in charge of the Cumbrians as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Newport.

Curle announced last month he was leaving the club after three-and-a-half years at the helm.

Newport fought back after conceding an early Mark Ellis goal to equalise with Padriag Amond's 15th goal of the season.

However, with both sides outside of the play-off picture, the result was largely academic.

Carlisle dictated the pace from the outset, with Richie...

Carlisle came from behind to secure a 2-1 victory at Port Vale in Keith Curle's penultimate game as manager.

Curle, who is leaving the club at the end of the season, saw second-half strikes from Ashley Nadesan and Hallam Hope cancel out Dior Angus' opener.

After a slow start, Vale debutant Angus tapped in from a couple of yards out in the 34th minute after an initial effort was parried into the air by Carlisle stopper Jack Bonham.

Minutes later the visitors were indebted to Bonham who pulled off a top...

A 1-1 draw with Carlisle was sufficient to clinch promotion for Luton, sparking wild celebrations amongst their 1,404 travelling fans at Brunton Park.

The Cumbrians had threatened to spoil the party when they took an early lead through a Danny Grainger penalty, but Olly Lee snatched the vital equaliser for Luton in the second half.

Carlisle started brightly and Hatters goalkeeper James Shea dealt with shots from Mike Jones and Jamie Devitt before the home side went ahead from the penalty spot in the...

Swindon's Sky Bet League Two play-off hopes took a dent after they failed to find a way past Carlisle and were held to a goalless draw at the County Ground.

The home side were looking to end their run of two consecutive draws as they look to climb back into the play-off spots with the hope of an immediate return to League One.

The Robins' Marc Richards had the best chance of the game but his first-half header bounced back off the post and was eventually cleared away.

Veteran Matt Taylor could only watch...
