Newport secured back-to-back Sky Bet League Two wins for the first time since October thanks to a hard-fought 1-0 victory at home to 10-man Carlisle.

Scott Boden's simple tap-in at the back post in the 55th minute proved enough for County who continue to edge away from the relegation places.

A poor first half ended goalless as both sides lacked inspiration and quality. Carlisle used the long throw of Mark Ellis as their main attacking weapon but the alert Newport defenders, led by Darren Jones, cleared...

Charlie Wyke and Alex Gilliead scored first-half goals to give Carlisle a 2-0 win over fellow League Two play-off hopefuls Accrington.

Carlisle always held the upper hand despite an early blow when skipper Michael Raynes was stretchered off with a head injury sustained as he challenged for a corner delivered by Gillead.

The initial play was scrappy, with the early for the injury a factor, although Carlisle made the most of a 28th-minute free-kick on the left which Gilliead played short to Brandon Comley....

CARLISLE, England -- Local authorities are investigating allegations of racist behaviour by fans toward Everton players during Carlisle United's FA Cup home match on Sunday.

The alleged incident happened in the fourth-round game after Everton opened the scoring in the second minute through Ivory Coast striker Arouna Kone, who is black.

A public address system message warned fans that racist abuse would not be tolerated, and local police issued the same message on Twitter, asking anyone with information...

Everton eased into the fifth round of the FA Cup as early goals from Arouna Kone and Aaron Lennon and a deflected Ross Barkley strike steered them to a comfortable 3-0 win at Carlisle.

Kone opened the scoring by tapping in with only around 90 seconds of the tie gone before Lennon doubled the Toffees' advantage in the 14th minute.

Carlisle -- back playing at their Brunton Park home for only the second time since last month's devastating floods -- had threatened in between via a Derek Asamoah shot...
