Cape Town City sign Bafana starlet Links

South African Premier Soccer League side Cape Town City have pulled off a coup with the signing of exciting teenage talent Gift Links for a club record fee, the Mother City team confirmed on Thursday.

The 19-year-old is viewed as one of the hottest properties in the country and had been playing at Egyptian Premier League side Pyramids FC.

But an overhaul of that club following its sale to Saudi Arabian billionaire Turki Al al-Sheikh has seen most of last season's squad leave, with the acquisition...

The best free transfers available in the PSL

The transfer window only officially opens on July 1, but already there has been much trading of players in South Africa's Premier Soccer League.

That includes players who have been confirmed on the 'release list' of their clubs and will be free agents at the start of next month, potentially providing a bargain for teams on the hunt for talent.

Cape Town City sign Ivorian centre-back as Johannes replacement

South African top-flight side Cape Town City have announced the signing of little-known Ivorian defender Kouassi Kouadja.

The club confirmed the capture of the 22-year-old on Tuesday, bringing him in as a replacement for departing captain Robyn Johannes, who will join Bidvest Wits next season.

"The left-footed centre-back joins City on a four-year deal with already a wealth of European experience. The club looks forward to watching Kouassi grow in the heart of the City defence," City said via their...

McCarthy has been linked to the post along with the likes of former Netherlands international Patrick Kluivert, ex-Wigan manager Gary Caldwell and former Hibernian coach Alan Stubbs.

McCarthy has just completed the first year of a three-year contract at City, and also...

PSL announce quarterfinal dates for Nedbank Cup

South Africa's Premier Soccer League has announced the dates and venues for the quarterfinals of the Nedbank Cup, the country's equivalent of the FA Cup.

The marquee fixture in the round will see Cape Town City host Mamelodi Sundowns at the Cape Town Stadium on April 1 in a fixture that has the feel of a final.

City have already had to overcome Bidvest Wits and Orlando Pirates to reach this stage, and now face potentially their biggest test yet.

Coach Benni McCarthy is hoping that Sundowns will...
