Patosi double leads stunning City fightback at Pirates

Ayanda Patosi scored two excellent second-half goals as Cape Town City rescued a point with a 2-2 draw at Orlando Pirates in a thrilling Absa Premiership clash at Orlando Stadium on Wednesday.

Pirates appeared to be cruising when they led 2-0 early thanks to goals from Zambia international Augustine Mulenga and Innocent Maela, but allowed City back into the game in the second and Patosi punished the home side.

City were missing head coach Benni McCarthy, who stayed in Cape Town after...

Khama Billiat inspires Kaizer Chiefs to big win over Cape Town City

Kaizer Chiefs bounced back to form in emphatic style with a comprehensive 4-1 victory over Cape Town City in their Absa Premiership clash on Saturday.

It was a first league win of the season for Giovanni Solinas' side as they weathered a City storm and then picked their opponents apart in the second period after the home side had been reduced to 10 men following a red card for defender Taariq Fielies.

It will be relief for Solinas, who had only won one of his eight games in charge...

Cape Town City ready to play 'disrupters' in the PSL

City have made astonishing strides on and off the pitch since their formation in July 2016 when Comitis purchased the top-flight status of Mpumalanga Black Aces, something he puts down...

The fixture is a repeat of last year's decider between the same two clubs at the same venue, with the trophy lifted on that occasion by SuperSport, who triumphed 4-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in regulation time.

The MTN8 is the first piece of silverware on offer in a...

Toni Silva goes from hero to villain for Mamelodi Sundowns in MTN8 defeat

Guinea-Bissau international Toni Silva went from hero to villain as Mamelodi Sundowns were dumped out of a second cup competition in a week with a penalty shootout loss to Cape Town City in the semi final of the MTN8.

Silva scored his first goal for Sundowns to hand them a 1-0 victory in the second leg, which forced the game into a shoot-out.

However, he then saw his penalty saved by City's Dutch goalkeeper Peter Leeuwenburgh, which, coupled with a miss by Anthony Laffor, saw City claim the 4-2...
