Nantes are playing with the energy and tenacity manager Sergio Conceicao used to show a player, and Wednesday's 1-0 home win against Caen was the sixth in seventh games since the former Portugal winger took charge.

Argentine striker Emiliano Sala scored for Nantes midway through the second half -- the second straight match he has grabbed the winner after netting in a 1-0 victory away to Toulouse last weekend.

When Conceicao replaced Rene Girard as manager, Nantes were mired in the relegation zone...

Walid Mesloub celebrates after scoring the winner against Nice in a 2-1 win for Lorient.

French league leaders Nice have only the title race to focus on for the rest of the season after going out of the Coupe de France on Sunday, losing 2-1 away to Lorient.

Lorient, in last place in Ligue 1, saw off Nice despite the visitors taking the lead through top scorer Alassane Plea near the end of the first half.

The hosts equalised with a fine individual goal from former Arsenal forward Jeremie Aliadiere in the 71st minute, and Algerian midfielder Walid Mesloub's winner shortly after sent...

Julian Draxler scores on PSG debut to cap rout in Coupe de France

Julian Draxler scored the last of PSG's seven goals on Saturday.

Julian Draxler scored in his first competitive game for Paris Saint-Germain as they routed fellow Ligue 1 side Bastia 7-0 in the Coupe de France.

Monaco went into the Christmas break trailing league-leaders Nice by just two points after they got back to winning ways with a 2-1 victory against 10-man Caen at the Stade Louis II.

Monaco were lucky not to fall behind in the 15th minute when Ivan Santini's deflected effort flew beyond Danijel Subasic before coming back off the crossbar.

Caen continued to create the better chances as a well-placed Subasic gathered Alaeddine Yahia's header from Vincent Bessat's free-kick.

With the game poised evenly...

Caen climbed off bottom spot in Ligue 1 and out of the relegation zone with comfortable 3-0 win over 10-man Metz.

The hosts held a 1-0 lead at half-time thanks to Vincent Bessat's cross and Yann Karamoh's header in the 20th minute.

But the game pivoted for good when Milan Bisevac was shown a red card for violent conduct just before the hour mark.

Within three minutes of his dismissal Caen had doubled their advantage, Julien Feret feeding Ivan Santini, who beat Thomas Didillon from outside the area.
