Caen secured seventh place in Ligue 1 as they overcame Bordeaux with a 1-0 home victory at Stade Michel d'Ornano.

The home side finished two spots off their best-ever finish of fifth place in French top-flight football that they achieved in 1992, thanks to an early Andy Delort goal.

The 24-year-old striker scored the only goal of the game after drawing a foul from defender Pablo for a penalty, which he stepped up to guide into the top-left corner.

That was Delort's 12th goal of the season leaving the...

Yaya Toure signs for French side Caen - but it's not Man City's midfielder

Yaya Toure
Yaya Toure, the famous one, has yet to decide his future.

It looked for all the world like SC Caen had moved quickly to pull off one of the biggest transfer coups in recent memory when they announced that Yaya Toure had agreed a deal to join the mid-table Ligue 1 outfit.

Indeed, more than a few quizzical eyebrows were raised when the French team proudly announced their new acquisition on Thursday evening.

However, it quickly became apparent that Caen's pulling power wasn't quite as impressive as first thought when they posted a photo of their new recruit...

Caen climbed to eighth place in the Ligue 1 table with a 2-1 victory over Nantes.

The visitors, who began the match behind their opponents on goal difference, took the lead after only five minutes through Ronny Rodelin's header.

Just before half-time, Caen were presented with a golden chance to make it two after Anthony Walongwa handled in the box.

Andy Delort made no mistake from the penalty spot and, although Alejandro Bedoya made it a nervous finish by pulling one back 12 minutes from time, Caen...

Caen were left without a Ligue 1 win in five matches after they were held to a goalless draw at home by a dogged Bastia side.

Jean-Louis Leca proved to be Bastia's first-half saviour as the visiting goalkeeper did superbly to deny Julien Feret inside 60 seconds before superbly keeping out Jeff Louis and Andy Delort.

Caen continued to create the better chances in the second half but Ronny Rodelin dragged a decent chance wide of the goal before Julien Feret fired straight at Leca after Jonathan Delaplace...

Guingamp edged ever closer to Ligue 1 safety after coming from behind to draw 1-1 with Caen in a game that saw both sides finish with 10 men.

Ronny Rodelin gave the visitors the lead on the half-hour mark from Julien Feret's pass, escaping the attentions of the Guingamp defence before blasting beyond Jonas Loss from inside the area.

When Thibault Giresse was dismissed late on for a nasty challenge on Jeff Louis a Caen win looked the most likely outcome.

However, l'EAG grabbed a fortuitous point when...
