Scott Hogan's double enabled Brentford to end a four-game losing streak with a hard fought 2-1 win over Burton.

Hogan gave the hosts the lead on 11 minutes when he latched onto a perfectly weighted Romaine Sawyers through ball to fire home first time from 12 yards.

But the visitors hit back just before the half hour when Lucas Atkins stripped Andreas Bjelland for pace down the right wing and squared for Jamie Ward to sweep home from just inside the box.

Leading scorer Hogan had the final say midway...

Rotherham ended a tumultuous week in familiar fashion as they were beaten 2-1 at Burton in the Sky Bet Championship.

The Millers' season was plunged into further turmoil on Monday after Kenny Jackett resigned after just five games in charge to leave the club looking for their third manager of a dismal campaign and sixth since September 2015.

And it was normal service resumed at the Pirelli Stadium as under the caretaker stewardship of Paul Warne, the Millers slipped to a 15th game without a win - a...

Preston came from behind against Burton to salvage a point in a 1-1 draw in the first ever meeting between the two sides.

Callum Robinson drew Preston level just before half-time after Jackson Irvine had fired Burton in front.

It means Burton remain without an away win in the Championship, but their boss Nigel Clough has still never lost a game against Preston.

Burton had not scored an away goal for 406 minutes, but came close twice early on when Ben Turner thumped a header against the bar from from...

Reading maintained their impressive form with a comfortable 3-0 home victory over lowly Burton Albion.

Goals from Dominic Samuel, his first for the club, and Danny Williams gave Reading a healthy half-time lead.

Although Burton improved after the break, they were made to pay for poor finishing when Reading made it 3-0 in the 77th minute - through a John Brayford own goal - and secured their fourth successive win.

In-form Reading went into the match on the back of consecutive victories over Rotherham,...

Jamie Ward, Stuart Dallas withdraw from Northern Ireland squad

Nottingham Forest's Jamie Ward celebrates scoring the winner.
Jamie Ward is sidelined after breaking his wrist last weekend.

Wide men Jamie Ward and Stuart Dallas have withdrawn from the Northern Ireland squad to face Azerbaijan in the World Cup qualifier on Friday.

Ward, currently on loan at Burton, broke his wrist against Barnsley at the weekend and is expected to be out for several weeks while Dallas will return to Leeds to continue his recovery from a calf problem.

The 25-year-old has been absent since suffering the injury against San Marino in early October, and his lack of game time at Elland Road made his withdrawal...
