Sources: Tim Sherwood under consideration for Brighton job

Sherwood led Spurs to a sixth-placed finish last season before being sacked.

Former Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood is in the frame to replace under-fire Brighton boss Sami Hyypia, sources have told ESPN FC.

Hyypia, who took charge at Brighton in the summer, is under pressure after overseeing a disastrous run of form at the Amex Stadium.

Brighton have won just three of their 21 Championship games this season, and last Friday's home loss to Millwall was another damaging blow to his tenure.

Hyppia was given a vote of confidence last week, but it appears the Brighton board may...

Lee Gregory fired Millwall to a 1-0 win at fellow strugglers Brighton to pile the pressure on Sami Hyypia.

Former Liverpool defender Hyypia only took over as Albion boss in the summer but the Seagulls have gone from promotion hopefuls to relegation candidates in the space of four months.

The under-fire Finn wrote in his programme notes that it was "time to deliver'', but his rallying cry fell on deaf ears as his side slipped to a third straight defeat, with a wretched run of one win in 17 games leaving...

Derby breezed past Brighton with a 3-0 victory at the iPro Stadium to maintain their position at the top of the Sky Bet Championship.

The Rams had Brighton's number last season, beating the south coast side on all four occasions - including both legs of the play-off semi-final - and Steve McClaren's men maintained their dominance over the Seagulls on Saturday afternoon.

Three goals in a devastating 10-minute spell had the game won before the halfway point of the first half.

Darren Bent scored on his Brighton debut but it was not enough to prevent the Seagulls slipping to a 2-1 defeat at home to fellow-strugglers Fulham.

The former England striker was signed on loan from Aston Villa this week and made an immediate impact at the Amex Stadium with the opening goal early in the second half.

However, Brighton's lead lasted just 10 minutes before Hugo Rodallega struck an equaliser and Lasse Vigan Christensen's goal then turned the match in Fulham's favour.

Darren Bent joins Brighton on loan from Aston Villa

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert believes his side should receive plenty of credit with their 1-1 draw with second place Southampton.

Aston Villa striker Darren Bent has dropped down to the Championship to join Brighton & Hove Albion on loan.

Bent, 30, who cost Villa 18 million pounds from Sunderland in 2011, has agreed an initial one-month deal with the Seagulls after falling out of favour at Villa Park. He has made eight appearances for Villa this season but failed to score.

The former England international could make his debut on Saturday against Fulham, the club where he spent last season on loan.
