Chelsea discover EFL Trophy draw as other major clubs snub competition

Stamford Bridge will welcome one of Swindon Town, Exeter City or Oxford United.

Chelsea's academy team will take on Swindon Town, Exeter City and Oxford United in the group stage of the EFL Trophy.

The revamp of the EFL Trophy has been beset by problems since the plan to invite 16 Premier League academies into the competition was announced earlier this year.

Supporters of clubs in League One and League Two, whose first teams play in the competition with the final played at Wembley, are angry and believe the Football League are trying to get Premier League "B" teams into...

Paul Pogba in Man Utd XI? Mourinho's wife shares pic of his tactics board

Jose Mourinho is certainly a forward planner, but is he planning for life at Manchester United with Paul Pogba in his midfield?

A picture on his wife Matilde's Twitter has a rather blurry looking Jose standing in front of a tactics board with some names on it. Kind of like a magic eye picture, some United fans have taken to Twitter to see if they can make out a mystery midfielder.

Smalling or Blind, Martial or Depay, fair enough, that's easy ... but is that a "Pogba" we spy above Fellaini?

Ex-Real Madrid prodigy Jack Harper scores solo golazo for Brighton

Back in the summer of 2013, a prodigious young teenager by the name Jack Harper caused a stir by becoming only the fourth Scottish player ever to sign for a La Liga club when he formally joined the youth ranks at Real Madrid.

Having spent two years learning his trade with Los Blancos, Harper decided to move back to Britain last summer after his Castilla team was disbanded, at which point he joined Brighton & Hove Albion.

Now 20, the forward is in the process of gearing up for the 2016-17 Championship...

Brighton re-sign Glenn Murray on season-long loan from Bournemouth

Murray scored a total of three goals for Bournemouth since signing from Crystal Palace in 2015.

Brighton & Hove Albion have re-signed Glen Murray from Bournemouth on a season-long loan.

Murray, 32, played for the Seagulls between 2008 and 2011, making 118 appearances. He then left the club, joining Crystal Palace before being offloaded again to Bournemouth in 2015.

However, the striker failed to make a significant impact at the Vitality Stadium and has found himself back with his former club in the Championship.

"He is a real attacking presence who can lead the line, he's powerful in the air,...

Brighton give boss Chris Hughton new four-year contract

Chris Hughton brought Brighton to the brink of promotion to the Premier League.

Brighton manager Chris Hughton has signed a new four-year contract just days after the club missed out on promotion to the Premier League.

A draw at Middlesbrough on the final day of the regular league season saw Brighton condemned to third place in the Championship, when automatic promotion was tantalisingly close.

A painful playoff semifinal defeat followed at the hands of Sheffield Wednesday, meaning Brighton must try again next season to earn a place in the top flight.

And the ambitious Seagulls...
