Brechin fail to win a single game all season, making Scottish history

Brechin boss on sidelines
Darren Dodds' Brechin didn't pick up a single win in the Scottish Championship this season.

No team in Scotland has gone through a season winless since 1891-92, when Vale of Leven went into the record books. Some 126 years later, they have company.

That's because Scottish Championship side Brechin City have accomplished the ignominious feat this season.

After being promoted to the Scottish second division, Brechin went 36 matches without picking up a single victory, and are now set for a quick return to League One.

May a return to eight-hour round trips to third-tier Stranraer...

Nicky Clark scored a hat-trick as Dunfermline moved to within one point of the Scottish Championship play-off places with a 3-0 win at bottom side Brechin.

Clark opened the scoring after eight minutes and grabbed a second just a minute later.

The first was a fine finish into the far corner of the goal and he doubled the Pars' advantage when he then curled in his second shortly after.

Clark completed his hat-trick after 54 minutes when he ran on to a ball over the top of the home defence and finished...

Dimitris Froxylias' goal boosted Dumbarton's hopes of avoiding the Ladbrokes Championship relegation play-off with a 1-0 win over Brechin.

The Cypriot slotted home Andy Stirling's pass after 37 minutes for the only goal of the game.

Stirling had already fired wide during the opening exchanges and Liam Dick saw an effort blocked as the hosts started strongly.

A scramble in the Dumbarton box saw the ball hooked off the line shortly before Froxylias struck at the other end, while Brechin were unable to...

Holders Celtic eased into the fifth round of the Scottish Cup with a 5-0 home win over struggling Brechin.

The visitors arrived bottom of the Championship without a league win all season and hopes of a shock result at Parkhead disappeared as early as the second minute when winger James Forrest opened the scoring with a simple finish.

Provider Scott Sinclair helped himself to a goal soon afterwards with midfielder Olivier Ntcham, defender Dedryck Boyata and striker Odsonne Edouard adding further...

Scott McDonald netted a double as 10-man Dundee United swept to their biggest Ladbrokes Championship win of the season with a 4-1 triumph over Brechin.

United needed an 80th-minute strike from McDonald to edge past the bottom club on their previous trip to Tannadice and drew at Glebe Park in November, but the Australian drilled home the opener inside 60 seconds.

Sam Stanton doubled United's lead after a seventh-minute corner and United were also quick off the mark in the second half - McDonald netting...
