Bradford ended their run of five matches without a win with a 1-0 victory over Yorkshire rivals Barnsley on a emotional day at Valley Parade.

As is the custom at Bradford's last home match of the season, there was a minute's silence in memory of the 56 people who died in the Valley Parade fire 30 years ago on May 11 and wreaths were also laid in the centre circle by captains Stephen Darby and Martin Cranie.

England manager Roy Hodgson and Football Association chairman Greg Dyke also attended the match...

Scunthorpe are on the verge of League One survival after they drew 1-1 with Bradford at Glanford Park.

With Notts County and Leyton Orient both losing, a win would have confirmed the Iron's presence in the third tier next season, but Billy Clarke's goal, which cancelled out Gary McSheffrey's opener, means they still need a point to be certain.

Jon Stead's ninth-minute shot, straight at Iron keeper Luke Daniels, was the first of any note, before Gary Liddle cracked a shot over the hosts' bar.

Sheffield United took a step close to the play-offs following a 1-1 draw at home to Yorkshire rivals Bradford.

Jason Holt put the hosts in front just before the hour but they had to settle for a point following Billy Clarke's equaliser late in the game.

Bradford made a bright start with Andy Halliday putting a first-time shot narrowly wide and then Clarke slipping a good ball through to James Hanson whose effort was saved by Mark Howard.

Clarke then produced a neat shot on the turn which forced Chris...

Bradford fire judge Sir Oliver Popplewell wants new investigation

Oliver Popplewell (right) pictured with Stafford Heginbotham during a tour of the Valley Parade stadium in May 1985.

Sir Oliver Popplewell, the judge who conducted the 1985 Bradford fire public inquiry, says police should look at eight other fires allegedly connected to the then club chairman to "see if there was anything sinister."

A new book claims the fire at Bradford's Valley Parade stadium was one of at least nine blazes at businesses owned by or associated with the club's then chairman Stafford Heginbotham, who died in 1995.

Popplewell's inquiry concluded that the cause was an accident probably started...

No new inquiry into Bradford fire - MP Gerry Sutcliffe

The fire at Valley Parade claimed the lives of 56 people.

Former sports minister Gerry Sutcliffe says new allegations surrounding the Bradford City fire in 1985 that claimed 56 lives do not justify a new inquiry into the disaster.

A new book claims that the fire at Valley Parade was just one of at least nine fires at businesses owned by or associated with the club's then chairman Stafford Heginbotham, who died in 1995.

Sutcliffe, MP for Bradford South and deputy leader of Bradford City council at the time of the tragedy, says he knew Heginbotham "flew...
