YouTube star Felipe Neto sponsors Botafogo to make football history

Botafogo are eighth in the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A.

Botafogo have become the first professional football club in the world to have a YouTube star among their shirt sponsors.

The Brazilian side have reached a one-off agreement with Felipe Neto -- a Brazilian internet celebrity that has 16 million followers -- with his entertainment channel the 41st most-subscribed account on YouTube.

Neto, 29, recently launched a food brand named 'Neto's' which will be displayed on the club's jersey in Monday's league game at Palmeiras.

Ex-Brazil star Garrincha's remains missing at Rio de Janeiro cemetery

Garrincha won two World Cups with Brazil, in 1958 and 1962.

The remains of legendary Brazil winger Garrincha have gone missing, according to his family and local authorities.

The two-time World Cup winner who formed an unbeatable partnership with Pele died in 1983 and was buried in Mage's Raiz da Serra Cemetary, located in the Baixada Fluminense region of Rio de Janeiro.

However, on Tuesday, the city government and Garrincha's relatives confirmed that the former Botafogo star's remains could not be found, with cemetery officials theorising they were lost...

Real Madrid left-back Marcelo has told Globoesporte he would like to play for Brazilian club Botafogo before retiring.

Marcelo joined Madrid from Fluminense as an 18-year-old in January 2007 and has since won three La Liga titles and two Champions Leagues, playing more than 400 games.

Fan dies after violence prior to Botafogo-Flamengo in Rio de Janeiro

A supporter died following violence before Botafogo's meeting with Flamengo in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday.

Authorities announced that Diego Silva dos Santo, 28, died nearby Botafogo's Nilton Santos Stadium -- also known as the Engenhao -- and the club condemned the violence which preceded the match.

Brazilian forward Jobson banned four years for alleged refusal of doping test

Botafogo forward Jobson has had a history of failed doping tests in his native Brazil.

RIO DE JANEIRO -- Brazilian striker Jobson has been banned from football for four years for allegedly refusing to undergo a doping test while he played in Saudi Arabia.

The player had been suspended in Saudi Arabia but FIFA on Friday told his Brazilian club, Botafogo, that the ban is also valid in Brazil.

A Saudi Arabian anti-doping commission suspended Jobson last year saying the player refused to undergo a test while playing for Al-Ittihad, a claim the Brazilian striker denies.
