Botafogo forward Jobson has had a history of failed doping tests in his native Brazil.

RIO DE JANEIRO -- Brazilian striker Jobson has been banned from football for four years for allegedly refusing to undergo a doping test while he played in Saudi Arabia.

The player had been suspended in Saudi Arabia but FIFA on Friday told his Brazilian club, Botafogo, that the ban is also valid in Brazil.

A Saudi Arabian anti-doping commission suspended Jobson last year saying the player refused to undergo a test while playing for Al-Ittihad, a claim the Brazilian striker denies.

Former Vasco da Gama manager Cristovao Borges' stay at Fluminense has come to an end.

RIO DE JANEIRO -- Brazilian club Fluminense says it has fired coach Cristovao because of the team's poor performances in the Rio de Janeiro state championship.

Monday's announcement came two days after Fluminense's 1-1 draw with minnow Tigres at the Maracana Stadium. The traditional Rio de Janeiro club had already lost to another smaller club, Macae, in the previous round in the state tournament.

Brazilian league teams will be stripped of points if they don't pay players' salaries on time.

SAO PAULO -- Brazilian league teams will be stripped of points if they don't pay players' salaries on time.

Clubs may lose three points for each match played while salaries are owed, the Brazilian Football Confederation said. The teams would keep losing points for as long as the debts persist.
