Werder Bremen added to Monchengladbach's woes with a 2-1 victory on Sunday.

Borussia Monchengladbach's disappointing start to the season continued as they were beaten 2-1 by Werder Bremen on Sunday.

Aron Johansson gave the hosts the lead from the penalty spot after Anthony Ujah had been fouled inside the area.

Gladbach drew level just before half-time when Lars Stindl scored his first goal for the club, but Jannik Vestergaard restored Bremen's lead early in the second half.

"We are Juventus and we should not be afraid of anything or anybody," he said on his...

Manchester City have been handed a tough Champions League group stage draw against Juventus, Sevilla and Borussia Monchengladbach.

City, who also dealt with tough draws in the past four seasons of the Champions League, were selected in Group D with last season's finalists and the Europa League champions.

Holders Barcelona, meanwhile, are in Group E alongside Roma, who finished second in Serie A last season, Bayer Leverkusen and BATE Borisov.

Barcelona lifted the trophy for the fifth time in their...

Christian Clemens scored the winner for Mainz.

Borussia Monchengladbach lost their second game in a row this season, going down 2-1 at home to Mainz to go bottom of the Bundesliga on Sunday evening.

Jairo Samperio gave Mainz, who were also seeking their first points of the season, the lead just before half-time, but after a stunning effort from Patrick Herrmann brought Gladbach level, it seemed like only one team would go on to win.

The hosts wasted chance after chance to take the lead as Mainz held on for dear life, breaking in the 79th minute...
