Augsburg booked their place in the Europa League next season by beating Borussia Monchengladbach 3-1 to hold off the challenge of Borussia Dortmund.

Raffael gave the hosts the lead against the run of play in the 37th minute, but Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg earned the Bavarians their first ever qualification for Europe with just under 20 minutes remaining at the Borussia Park Stadion.

Tim Matavz ensured they even made it into the group stage with a second while Sascha Molders put the cherry on top with a...

Gladbach plan for more success after reaching Champions League

Gladbach players celebrate with their fans after booking their place in the Champions League group stage at the weekend.

August 21, 2012 is perhaps a date that has been prominent in the minds of many of the staff and supporters of Borussia Monchengladbach in recent weeks. Raffael scored both the goals for the Foals as they maintained their five-point advantage over fourth-placed Bayer Leverkusen with just one game of the season remaining.

Bremen can still join them in Europe next season, but to do that they must win at Borussia Dortmund next weekend and hope that both Augsburg lose and that Dortmund do not then lift the DFB-Pokal.

Max Kruse has impressed this season.

Wolfsburg have announced the signing of Max Kruse from Bundesliga rivals Borussia Monchengladbach with the Germany international joining in the summer on a four-year contract.

The Wolves have met the terms of a release clause in the 27-year-old's contract, although no details of the transfer fee have been revealed.

"We're really delighted that Max Kruse has decided to join Wolfsburg,'' said Wolfsburg's director of sport Klaus Allofs after his side climbed above Gladbach into second place in the...
