Source: Kobe Bryant not involved in group's takeover of Bologna

Kobe Bryant, who met with Sepp Blatter at the World Cup, is a lifelong soccer fan, but he won't buy Bologna, a source said.

Basketball star Kobe Bryant is not involved in an imminent sale of Italian Serie B club Bologna, a source told ESPN.

A report in Italy's La Gazzetta dello Sport suggested that a consortium led by investor Joe Tacopina included the Los Angeles Lakers guard, but a source close to Bryant told ESPN.com's Marc Stein that he was not part of the deal for the second-division club.

Tacopina told reporters outside a Bologna hotel on Wednesday night that he had reached an agreement with the current club owner...

The Serie A strugglers made a successful last-minute bid for the Corinthians midfielder on Friday but the day after, following a long flight to Italy from Brazil, the 31-year-old found nobody there to welcome him.

He was eventually collected and taken for a medical, which he passed to complete a loan move until the end of the season,...

Torino end Seedorf's winning start

AC Milan manager Clarence Seedorf's winning start ended as the Rossoneri were held 1-1 at home by Torino. Seedorf was looking to become the first Milan coach since Luigi Bonizzoni in 1958-59 to win his first three Serie A games.

Milan dominated without the suspended Mario Balotelli, but Torino took the lead in the 17th minute thanks to a wonderful solo effort from Ciro Immobile.

Immobile ran almost half the length of the pitch before feinting...

Bologna given suspended ban

The Lega Serie A has issued Bologna with a partial stadium ban - suspended for one year -- after a section of their supporters were observed chanting "territorial'' abuse towards visiting Napoli fans.

During Sunday's league game at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara, which saw hosts Bologna secure a 2-2 draw through a late goal from Rolando Bianchi, stadium officials were able to certify that fans in the stadium's north stand -- the Curva Bulgarelli -- had sung an offensive chant and displayed a...

Ballardini chosen to coach Bologna

Bologna have appointed Davide Ballardini as their coach until the end of the season after dismissing Stefano Pioli on Tuesday night.

Davide Ballardini led Genoa in 2011
Ballardini has saved Cagliari and Genoa from relegation in the past.

Ballardini will bring his own staff -- Carlo Regno, Stefano Melandri, Andrea Rinaldi and Mario Paradisi -- after Pioli's backroom team were also relieved of their duties.

Bologna are currently 17th in Serie A, a point clear of the relegation zone, and Pioli...
