New manager Neil McDonald will have to placate angry Blackpool fans after their relegation to League One.

Blackpool Supporters' Trust (BST) has tabled a £16 million bid to buy the club from owners Owen Oyston and his family.

BST has sent an open "letter of intent" to Oyston, who bought the club for £1 in 1987, urging him to sell "and thereby prevent any further damage being done to Blackpool FC, its reputation and its future prospects."

The 49-year-old has also been on the staff at Preston, Bolton, Crystal Palace and Leeds and succeeds Lee Clark in the post after he walked away from Bloomfield Road following a chaotic campaign both on and off the pitch.

Blackpool have been charged by the Football Association after their Championship clash with Huddersfield on May 2 was abandoned after a pitch invasion.

The game on the final day of the season was called off in the 48th minute after Blackpool fans staged a protest against owner Karl Oyston in the centre circle.

Referee Mick Russell was forced to take the players off the pitch with the score at 0-0 and, after the game was held up for more than an hour, the decision was taken to call it off.

The Seasiders...

Blackpool's Nathen Delfouneso celebrates his goal
Nathan Delfouneso was one of the many let go.

Blackpool quartet Peter Clarke, David Perkins, Nathan Delfouneso and Steven Davies are among a total of 17 players released by the club.
