Steven Davies headed a late equaliser to help Blackpool to a 2-2 draw with Charlton Athletic at The Valley on Saturday.

Having come to the end of a 10-match unbeaten run in their last home game, a last-second defeat to Ipswich Town, Charlton started slowly, allowing Chris Eagles to poke Blackpool ahead.

Charlton's first-half pressure eventually resulted in an equalizer through Yoni Buyens' penalty before Cousins curled a beautiful effort past Joe Lewis soon after the break.

Steve Davies' second-half strike helped Blackpool to only their second Sky Bet Championship win of the season as Lee Clark's men beat his former side Birmingham 1-0 at Bloomfield Road.

Davies scored the only goal in the second half to give bottom-of-the-table Blackpool all three points and lift them to within eight points of safety.

The defeat is Birmingham's first in their last six games and their first since Gary Rowett took charge, while the Seasiders are now three games unbeaten.

A late howler from Rotherham goalkeeper Adam Collin earned Blackpool a 1-1 draw at the New York Stadium.

Substitutes Jordan Bowery and Steve Davies each scored late goals to ensure the points were shared between the two Sky Bet Championship strugglers.

Rotherham fielded all three of their new loan signings and it was full-back Reece James, borrowed from Manchester United on Thursday, who helped to create the game's first chance.

James linked up well with Ben Pringle who sent in a dangerous ball that...

Lee Chung-yong denied rock-bottom Blackpool only their second win of the Championship season with a late equaliser for Bolton who drew 1-1 at Bloomfield Road.

Blackpool, whose only league victory this term remains the 1-0 triumph against Cardiff on October 3, took the lead on 75 minutes through on-loan striker Jacob Murphy.

But South Korean international Lee fired home eight minutes from time to keep the Trotters just above the relegation zone.

The first chance fell to Blackpool after 11 minutes as...

Stanley Matthews' 1953 FA Cup winner's medal sells for £220,000

England international Matthews played until he was 50 years old.

The family of the late Sir Stanley Matthews have expressed their delight at the 220,000-pound record-breaking sale of his 1953 FA Cup winner's medal.

Presenter and comedian Nick Hancock put the item up for auction at Sotheby's and having far exceeded its anticipated 60,000-pound price, the famous Stoke fan will donate a sum from the proceeds to the former winger's foundation.

"It's wonderful news, and shows the passion and remembrance the public still have for Pop," said Matthews' daughter Jean...
