Blackpool hit by FA charge after Huddersfield game abandoned

Blackpool fans staged a protest during the game against Huddersfield.

Blackpool have been charged by the Football Association after their Championship clash with Huddersfield on May 2 was abandoned after a pitch invasion.

The game on the final day of the season was called off in the 48th minute after Blackpool fans staged a protest against owner Karl Oyston in the centre circle.

Referee Mick Russell was forced to take the players off the pitch with the score at 0-0 and, after the game was held up for more than an hour, the decision was taken to call it off.

Blackpool quartet Peter Clarke, David Perkins, Nathan Delfouneso and Steven Davies are among a total of 17 players released by the club.

Abandoned Blackpool game against Huddersfield ruled a goalless draw

Blackpool were charged with failing to fulfil their fixture after their May 2 game was abandoned.

Blackpool's abandoned Championship clash with Huddersfield will be recorded as a goalless draw, the Football League has announced.

The game on the final day of the season on May 2 was called off in the 48th minute after Blackpool fans staged a protest in the centre circle, with the score at 0-0.
