Grant Hanley of Blackburn Rovers holds off a challenge from Bolton's Zach Clough on Friday night.

Struggling Blackburn and Bolton both remain winless in the Championship this season following a goalless draw at Ewood Park on Friday night.

The two clubs' respective poor form had already made this derby a crunch clash, but it took on added significance for Rovers manager Gary Bowyer, whose position had come under increasing scrutiny following a report he had been sacked last Saturday.

Bowyer had lived on, though, but a defeat might have heaped further pressure on him.

As it was neither side could...

Kazenga LuaLua scored the only goal 10 minutes before the break as Brighton maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a 1-0 victory over winless Blackburn.

Gary Bowyer's men paid dearly for not scoring when on top early on and, after LuaLua broke the deadlock, Brighton went on to enjoy lengthy spells of possession on their way to securing a victory at the Amex Stadium.

Rovers, giving a debut to striker Tom Lawrence signed on loan from Leicester, made a lively start with French forward Fode...

Grant Hanley popped up with a late leveller to earn Blackburn a deserved 1-1 draw against Cardiff at Ewood Park.

The visitors went ahead after a poor David Raya clearance was punished by Joe Mason's assured finish in the fifth minute.

The hosts were lacklustre in the first half but produced a much-improved second-half display that saw Nathan Delfouneso's deflected effort hit the bar, only for Hanley to miss from point-blank range.

It looked as though the Bluebirds had weathered the storm, but the Rovers...

Striker Nathan Delfouneso scored with his first touch to rescue a point for Blackburn in a 1-1 draw at Huddersfield.

Ben Marshall crossed from the right on 60 minutes and Delfouneso volleyed in from close range after a knock-down by fellow substitute Fode Koita.

Only seconds earlier Rovers boss Gary Bowyer had brought the former Blackpool striker and Hope Akpan on in a double change in an attempt to equalise after Nahki Wells' early strike.

Delfouneso, released by the Tangerines this month, signed a...

Seven Championship sides fall in opening round of Capital One Cup

Danny Hylton of Oxford United celebrates after scoring Oxford's second goal against Brentford.

Brentford suffered a shock 4-0 home defeat against League Two Oxford as seven Championship sides were ousted from the Capital One Cup on a night of first-round upsets.

The visitors ran riot in the opening stages of the game at Griffin Park as Liam Sercombe, Danny Hylton and Kemar Roofe -- the last from 40 yards -- put them 3-0 up inside the first 12 minutes, and Johnny Mullins' second-half effort completed the rout.

Along with Brentford, Championship rivals Bristol City and Huddersfield were also...
