Marvin Sordell lashed home a stunning equaliser for Burton that meant new Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray had to settle for a 1-1 draw in his first match in charge.

A headed own goal from Matty Palmer had given Blackburn a 31st-minute lead, as Mowbray led Rovers after taking over from Owen Coyle.

But Sordell levelled soon after the break and Burton's Lasse Vigen Christensen was then cruelly denied a late winner when his 20-yard effort hit both posts but stayed out.

Manager Owen Coyle leaves Blackburn Rovers post 'by mutual agreement'

Owen Coyle hopes Blackburn Rovers can use their effort against Man United as a catalyst to avoid relegation to League One.

Blackburn Rovers have announced that manager Owen Coyle has left the club "by mutual agreement."

Former Burnley manager Coyle, appointed to the Ewood Park job in the summer, has seen his team struggle in the Championship.

They are currently in the relegation zone, and a statement on the Blackburn website said the decision for him to leave had "been taken in order to give the club the best possible chance of climbing to a position of safety in the Championship in the remaining 15 games, which start...
