James Keene sinks 10-man Kaizer Chiefs as Bidvest Wits claim final spot

James Keene scored the only goal of the game as Bidvest Wits claimed a 1-0 win over the 10 men of Kaizer Chiefs in a pulsating Telkom Knockout semi final at the Bidvest Stadium on Saturday.

Chiefs had Wiseman Meyiwa deservedly sent off for a stamp midway through the first half and shortly afterwards fell behind to Keene's headed goal.

The visitors led a spirited fightback in the second period and were denied an equaliser on a number of occasions, but in the end the barren trophy run of the team...

Kaizer Chiefs beat Chippa United to set up Bidvest Wits showdown

Kaizer Chiefs claimed their place in the semi finals of the Telkom Knockout as a controversial penalty from Bernard Parker sealed a 1-0 win over Chippa United at a packed Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Sunday.

The AmaKhosi will now face league champions Bidvest Wits in the semi finals, which will be staged in a fortnights' time, with Polokwane City to host Bloemfontein Celtic in the other fixture.

Chiefs rode their luck at times against Chippa, who had enough chances to have won the game, but also...

Wasteful Orlando Pirates dumped out of Telkom Knockout

Polokwane City stunned Orlando Pirates to advance to a first ever Telkom Knockout semifinal after a 4-2 penalty shootout win at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday.

City twice led twice through a brace from Rendani Ndou, but Pirates hit back through Ntsikelelo Nyauza and Mpho Makola. The match went to penalties after the teams ended extra-time at 2-2, and after Marc van Heerden and Nyauza missed for the home side, City celebrated what was a famous victory.

City were ahead inside two minutes when Rodney...

Champions Bidvest Wits find form to beat high-flying Baroka

Defending champions Bidvest Wits claimed a much-needed victory at high-flying Baroka FC on Sunday for what they will hope is a reversal of fortunes in the Absa Premiership.

Vincent Pule scored the only goal of the game just before halftime after he was teed-up by Thabang Monare to inflict a first defeat of the season on top-of-the-table Baroka.

It was just a second clean sheet of the campaign in 11 matches for Wits, who had shown none of the form that had lifted them to a first ever league title...

PSL: Champions Wits' misery continues

Premier Soccer League champions Bidvest Wits endured another wretched afternoon on Sunday following a 1-0 defeat to Bloemfontein Celtic.

The Students clinched a maiden title last season, but have been woeful in the start of their defence, winning just one of their opening six games.

That run got worse at Celtic, who scored the winner with 15 minutes remaining through Roggert Nyundu following a lightning quick counter-attack.

The result leaves Wits down in 15th place with five points from seven games,...
