In photos - Bengaluru FC bring the ISL trophy home amidst much fanfare

There was plenty of fanfare as Bengaluru FC arrived in Bengaluru after winning their first Indian Super League (ISL) trophy. They beat FC Goa 1-0 in the final on Sunday, to lift their maiden ISL title, making it their sixth trophy in six years.

Here are the best pictures from their arrival at the Kempegowda International Airport on Monday:

Indian Super League best XI: Coro, Ogbeche lead team of the season

Bengaluru beat Goa 1-0 in the final to claim their maiden ISL title on Sunday. But who were ISL's best players this season? Here's our team of the tournament.

GK - Gurpreet Singh Sandhu (Bengaluru FC)

India's No.1 goalkeeper kept his seventh clean sheet of the season in the final -- ahead of Pawan Kumar and Amrinder Singh, who both had six each. Without John Johnson for the first time in their history, Bengaluru didn't always have a confident backline, and Sandhu's solidity made a huge...

'You know what Asia? We are back' - Sunil Chhetri after ISL win

Sunil Chhetri has won seven top-level domestic trophies in his career -- winning laurels all around throughout as he went about quietly becoming the best footballer in India. Even for such a decorated veteran, Bengaluru FC's victory over FC Goa in the ISL final on Sunday was special.

"It's right up [there]," he said. "It's number 2. Probably the first one will be the final against [Air Force Club, Iraq] in Doha in the AFC Cup. After that, this is the win, man," he said with a smile that...

Both Carles Cuadrat and Sergio Lobera had wanted to showcase the magic of football in the ISL final. It was supposed to be a match-up between the two best ball-playing sides in the country, the two most entertaining. For large parts of 117 minutes, the magic was difficult to spot on the pitch.

But with penalties on the cards, and the air sticky with tension, Rahul Bheke rose above everyone else in the 118th minute to guide Bengaluru FC to their maiden ISL title. Just two minutes away from the cruelty...

Bengaluru FC (BFC) rode on a late Rahul Bheke goal to win their maiden Indian Super League (ISL) title against 10-man FC Goa in Mumbai on Sunday. As a corner was played in deep by Dimas Delgado in the 117th minute, Bheke positioned himself perfectly to turn the ball into the top left corner beyond the Goa goalkeeper's reach. It kissed the edge of the post and crept in.

Bengaluru, who were runners-up in their maiden ISL season last year, have thus become the first team to have won the ISL after having...
