Hume finds his scoring boots, ATK keep playoffs hopes alive

'Iain Hume celebrates his hat-trick against Delhi Dynamos FC.'

It was another dramatic week of the Indian Super League (ISL), one that saw the out-of-form Delhi Dynamos register their first win in almost two months, and an old ISL favourite find his scoring boots in some style.

IAIN HUME came into ISL's fourth season as the top scorer of all time but there was something missing from his performances this season for Kerala Blasters. Hume set that right with a hat-trick against Delhi, one characterised by his terrier-like abilities to chase every cause down in...

ISL at halfway stage: Who's hot, who's not

ATK's 1-0 win away to NorthEast United on Friday marked the completion of the exact halfway stage of the Indian Super League (ISL) season, with each of the 10 teams having played nine matches apiece.

Here's a look at what's gone down so far.

ISL: Business-as-usual Jeje, quick Keane

Jeje Lalpekhlua (second from left) has already scored six goals this ISL season.
Jeje Lalpekhlua (second from left) has already scored six goals this ISL season.

At 42 matches, the ISL is still less than halfway through its league stages for 2017-18, the first extended season of what is now a 10-team league. Interesting storylines and themes have emerged through these games, and here are some from the first week of January.

JEJE LALPEKHLUA, the all-time highest Indian scorer in ISL history, has continued on his merry way. His six goals (as of now) are the most by an Indian player this season, taking his all-time tally for Chennaiyin FC to 19. Jeje scored...

The goal came in the 38th game of the season, which is also a new league record -- the previous best was 39 games during the 2015 season. Here are some key numbers from ISL's latest century.

Jamshedpur defend a free kick against Sunil Chhetri.

On a chilly night at the Kanteerava against Bengaluru FC (BFC), Jamshedpur FC showed that pragmatism and efficiency can be more crucial to winning games than attacking flair. In the battle of the league's second-best scorers in BFC against the league's most miserly defence, Jamshedpur came out 1-0 with a goal right at the death, dashing hopes of a blue Christmas.

BFC dominated, with 19 shots and 10 on target and 68 percent of the ball, but couldn't prevent their second straight loss of the season....
