Javier Hernandez has revealed he chose a move to Bayer Leverkusen last summer after turning down a number of clubs in Italy.

Hernandez, 27, left Manchester United last August after being deemed surplus to requirements by manager Louis van Gaal, joining Leverkusen on a three-year contract.

The Mexico international, who has gone on to score 17 Bundesliga goals in 26 matches, said he had the chance to move to Serie A but opted for a move to Germany.

Bernd Leno is under contract at Bayer Leverkusen until 2018.

Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno says he is in "good talks" with several clubs -- including his current side -- with his €18 million release clause set to expire this week.

Leno, 24, who is under contract at Leverkusen until 2018, has been linked in recent weeks with Real Madrid, Tottenham and RB Leipzig.
