Furiani victims to be honoured

Bastia holds a moment of silence for victims of the Furiani disaster.

Victims of the Furiani disaster will be honoured by French football in an annual memorial, the country's Ministry for Sport has announced.

And should May 5, the date of the tragedy on Corsica, fall on a Saturday there will be no football matches played across France.

Floyd Ayite has impressed at Bastia to earn attention from England.

Togo international Floyd Ayite is being chased by a number of Premier League clubs, sources have told ESPN FC.

Minister wants Furiani disaster marked with no games on May 5

Bastia players marked the anniversary of the Furiani disaster with a minute's silence last season.

France's Sports Minister Thierry Braillard has proposed that no football games should be played on May 5 in memory of those who died at the Furiani disaster 23 years ago.

Eighteen people were killed and more than 2000 were injured when a temporary stand at Bastia's Stade Furiani collapsed prior to the 1992 Coupe de France semifinal with Marseille.

Bastia supporters' groups have been campaigning for years to have the date of the tragedy -- May 5 -- marked by having no matches staged on it.

Bastia's Djibril Cisse says move to play in MLS 'would be cool'

Djibril Cisse says he would like to play in the United States if he can recover from a hip injury.

Djibril Cisse says "it would be cool" to play in Major League Soccer after doing a U-turn on retirement plans.

Earlier this season, Cisse, 33, announced he would be hanging up his boots at the end of the Ligue 1 campaign because of a debilitating hip injury.
