PSL announce quarterfinal dates for Nedbank Cup

South Africa's Premier Soccer League has announced the dates and venues for the quarterfinals of the Nedbank Cup, the country's equivalent of the FA Cup.

The marquee fixture in the round will see Cape Town City host Mamelodi Sundowns at the Cape Town Stadium on April 1 in a fixture that has the feel of a final.

City have already had to overcome Bidvest Wits and Orlando Pirates to reach this stage, and now face potentially their biggest test yet.

Coach Benni McCarthy is hoping that Sundowns will...

Baroka produce smash-and-grab to stun Cape Town City

Baroka FC produced a classic 'smash-and-grab' to secure a 2-0 victory over Cape Town City in their Absa Premiership clash in Polokwane on Tuesday.

City dominated possession, territory and chances, but somehow contrived to lose the match to arguably the only two genuine opportunities their hosts created in the game.

A brace of goals from Botswana midfielder Mpho Kgaswane sealed the points for Baroka, who move above City and into sixth in the table.

For coach Benni McCarthy, it is City's a fourth...

Stats and facts from the January PSL transfer window

The transfer window has now slammed shut in South Africa in what was a frenetic few weeks for clubs in the Premier Soccer League.

KweséESPN picks out some stats and facts from the January window.

Baroka back to winning ways as SuperSport suffer more misery

Baroka FC claimed a first Premier League win in eight games when they defeated SuperSport United 3-1 at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday to move to fourth on the table and possibly kill off their opponents' title hopes.

Baroka are six points behind runaway leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, but have played two games more. SuperSport are now 13 points behind their Tshwane rivals, but do still have three games in hand.

They have just a single win in their last seven games though and look fatigued and devoid...

Percy Tau roars as Mamelodi Sundowns move atop PSL

Mamelodi Sundowns moved to the top of the Absa Premiership table with a 4-0 victory over Baroka FC in Atteridgeville on Tuesday night.

Sundowns were handsome winners, but the margin could have been even greater as they wasted numerous opportunities in what was arguably their best display of the season so far.

It is an ominous sign for their title rivals, as they cut Baroka to pieces at times, exposing gaping holes in the defence with slick passing and intelligent movement.

They took an early lead...
