Glenn Murray scored a goal in each half to give Brighton their third successive Sky Bet Championship victory in the shape of a comfortable 2-0 home success over Barnsley.

The 32-year-old striker, on a season-long loan from Bournemouth and in his second spell at Albion, has now scored five goals this season - all of them coming at the Amex Stadium.

The victory takes the Seagulls above Barnsley, who lost for the second game running having gone down 2-1 at home to Reading last weekend.

Resilient Reading came away from Barnsley with a hard-fought 2-1 win in the Sky Bet Championship, despite playing most of the game with only 10 men.

Garath McCleary opened the scoring early on but the winger was sent off six minutes after John Swift had fired Reading into a 2-0 lead.

Despite on-loan striker Adam Armstrong halving the deficit late on for the hosts, Reading held firm to secure the victory.

Conor Hourihane continued his impressive run in front of goal as the skipper led Barnsley to a stunning 4-0 Sky Bet Championship win against Wolves at Molineux.

Hourihane struck for the third time in eight games this season with a smartly-taken 73rd-minute strike to hand Barnsley a deserved lead.

Former Wolves winger Adam Hammill doubled their advantage seven minutes from time. Saidy Janko set the seal on the victory in the 85th minute before Tom Bradshaw completed the late rout, in which four goals...

Barnsley moved into the Championship's top two after substitute Adam Armstrong's 79th-minute strike secured a 2-1 victory over Preston at Deepdale.

Sam Winnall had opened the scoring for the visitors but that was cancelled out by a superb equaliser from Preston debutant Aiden McGeady just after the hour.

But Armstrong produced an excellent bit of skill before curling the ball home and sealing the Tykes' fourth league victory of the season.

Excellent link-up play between Barnsley's front two created...

Alfie Mawson completes move to Swansea from Barnsley

Alfie Mawson, right, scored twice in the four league games he played for Barnsley this season.

Swansea have completed their move for Barnsley defender Alfie Mawson.

The 22-year-old has signed a four-year contract after moving from South Yorkshire for an undisclosed fee. The two clubs reached an agreement on Friday but the deal had remained subject to personal terms being finalised.

After joining from Brentford last season, Mawson played 58 times for Barnsley, helping them win both the Football League Trophy and League One play-off final.

He began his career with Reading before joining Brentford...
