Napoli president Auerlio De Laurentiis takes over Serie D side Bari

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has bought Bari and said his son would be taking the role of president there.

De Laurentiis had a bid for the club, in Serie D after being declared bankrupt at the end of last season, accepted ahead of an offer from Lazio president Claudio Lotito.

His takeover saw banners appear in Naples overnight, with one reading: "Don't stop with Bari -- buy other clubs too, just as long as you leave our city."

Serie B playoffs postponed as Bari face points deduction

The Serie B promotion playoffs have been postponed by a week because Bari could be deducted two points on Friday.

Bari were due to host Cittadella on Saturday, with Perugia playing at Venezia the following day.

But if Bari are stripped of two points by the Italian federation for irregular payments, Cittadella would get the home advantage for the playoff match.

Malaysian businessman Datuk Noordin Ahmad buys Serie B side Bari in Italy

Malaysian businessman Datuk Dr Noordin Ahmad has bought Italian football club Bari.

In a statement released by the club, it was confirmed that a preliminary agreement was made on April 8 when Datuk Noordin acquired a 50 percent stake of the Italian side.

Bari president Gianluca Paparesta, who owns a 95 percent stake, communicated the sale to board members.

Fans awarded €400 each after fixed Bari-Lecce game

Fans who attended Bari's 2-0 home defeat to Lecce in Serie A on May 15, 2011, have been awarded €400 each in damages after it was proven that the game had been fixed.

A class action lawsuit was brought against the two clubs by a group of supporters who felt betrayed by the result.

Klas Ingesson, Elfsborg coach and former Sweden midfielder, dies at 46

Ingesson, pictured during the 1990 World Cup match vs. Brazil,  represented his country 57 times over a nine-year international career.

Klas Ingesson, a former Sweden international midfielder who helped his nation reach the semifinals of the 1994 World Cup, has died. He was 46.

Ingesson, the coach at Allesvenskan club Elfsborg, died on Wednesday. He was diagnosed with incurable cancer in 2009.

"IF Elfsborg has a very sad announcement to make. Klas Ingesson has passed away this morning," the club said in a statement posted on their website.
