Ayr continued their unbeaten start to the season after being held 1-1 by Stenhousemuir at Ochilview Park.

The away side got off to the perfect start after just 12 minutes, when a mix-up in the Stenhousemuir defence gifted Ryan Donnelly the chance to grab his second goal of the season.

But Ayr were pegged back midway through the first half, with striker Martin Grehan grabbing the equaliser for the Warriors with a low shot following some smart build-up play.

Rory McKenzie grabbed the only goal of the game as Kilmarnock booked their place in the third round of the League Cup with a narrow victory over local rivals Ayr United.

The top-flight side had the best of the chances and scraped through in the end thanks to a second half strike from McKenzie.

As well as progressing in the competition, the win allowed Killie to claim the bragging rights in this derby clash.

Kilmarnock named an unchanged side from the one who defeated Motherwell on Saturday.

A late brace from Scott McLaughlin allowed Ayr to maintain their place at the top of the League One table as they claimed a 2-0 win over Forfar.

After a lively opening, the game seemed to be heading for a draw before McLaughlin struck twice in the final five minutes to give the leaders a dramatic victory.

The teams traded blows early on, with Dale Hilson and Jon-Paul McGovern going close but both goalkeepers were in good form as the deadlock remained steadfast.

Ayr kept up their perfect start to the League One season with a 3-1 win away at Stirling.

Following on from last weekend's 1-0 win over Morton, Alan Forrest's brace maintained their 100 per cent start.

They were ahead after just five minutes when Forrest poked home, reacting quickest to a loose ball in the box.

The midfielder grabbed his brace 11 minutes into the second half with a wonderful curling effort after being teed up by Brian Gilmour.

Ryan Donnelly's goal 11 minutes from time snatched Ayr a 1-0 win over 10-man Greenock Morton.

Ayr finished fourth last season in League One and showed why as a quick start gave Declan McManus the chance to fire them into an early lead but he pulled his shot wide from six yards.

Morton rued first-half chances as Conor Pepper, Ricki Lamie and McManus all spurned decent opportunities.

The Ton, who were relegated from the Scottish Championship last season, were reduced to 10 men in the 68th minute afte...
