Edin Dzeko strikes as De Rossi and Nainggolan shine against Cagliari

Roma were made to sweat as they crept past Cagliari, courtesy of Edin Dzeko's goal.

Edin Dzeko's 14th goal of the season helped Roma to a 1-0 win over Cagliari on Sunday -- their third straight victory by this margin -- to stay a point behind Serie A leaders Juventus. It meant his vastly improved scoring form continued, helping Roma to keep pace with the league's top scorers.

The Bosnian shrugged off the attention of Nicola Murru to roof home Antonio Rudiger's whipped cross 10 minutes after the break, and his goal was just about enough to down dogged Cagliari, who didn't offer...

Free-scoring Roma must maintain momentum vs. Cagliari

The FC crew strongly disagree with some of Shaka Hislop's decisions in this week's power rankings.

After comprehensively doing away with their travel sickness, Roma return to home turf in Serie A against Cagliari on Sunday knowing that they've navigated a terrifically tricky six-match run, and come away from those fixtures in a better position than when they started. Crucially, they're out the other sidelooking more like a team than at any point since Luciano Spalletti's return to the Eternal City just over a year ago.

Roma are on course to face city rivals Lazio in the Coppa Italia semifinals after easing past Sampdoria 4-0 in the round of 16 on Thursday.

They next face second-division Cesena, who have already seen off two Serie A sides in Empoli and Sassuolo, while Lazio visit Inter Milan in their quarterfinal.

Roma survived an early scare as Luis Muriel hit the post in the third minute for Sampdoria.
