Massimo Maccarone scored from the penalty spot for Empoli after Kostas Manolas was sent off in the 37th minute. Riccardo Saponara was also shown a red card on the stroke of half-time as both sides ended the game with 10 men.

Seydou Doumbia sealed his move to Roma after the Serie A club secured his services from CSKA Moscow 14.4 million euros.
Doumbia, who is currently at the African Nations Cup with Ivory Coast, signed a new contract until June 2019.
In November, Doumbia starred in a Champions League match at Manchester City, scoring both goals in CSKA's shock win.

Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman has said he will be out of action for "much longer" than anticipated after an operation to remove scar tissue from his knee revealed further damage.
Netherlands international Strootman, 24, suffered a serious knee injury on March 9 last year, forcing him to miss the 2014 World Cup.
Mattia Destro has completed his move from Roma to AC Milan.
The 23-year-old forward has signed on loan until the end of the season with an option for the move to be made permanent in the summer.
