As debate swirls around Arsene Wenger's team selections, Paul Mariner gives us his preferred Arsenal starting XI.
Jay-Jay Okocha spoke about his nephew Alex Iwobi's chances of breaking into the Arsenal first team as the nominess were announced for The Best Awards.

LONDON -- Arsene Wenger wants to tie Aaron Ramsey and Danny Welbeck down to new deals to avoid them going into the final year of their contract -- and predicted that football's transfer market will soon be regulated by politicians to stop fees from spiralling out of control.

Arsenal could lose Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil on free transfers next summer when their contracts expire, and Wenger wants to avoid a similar situation with the players whose deals run out the following year.

UEFA inspector to seek answers over Arsenal-Cologne crowd trouble

Gab Marcotti explains how Cologne's massive wave of supporters was able to dominate Arsenal's home match.
Mark Ogden discusses whether British clubs would receive similar coverage had their fans behaved the same as Cologne's fans during the Europa League match against Arsenal.

A UEFA inspector will seek answers from Arsenal and Cologne over the cause of the crowd trouble that marred last week's Europa League meeting between the sides at the Emirates Stadium.

European football's governing body said on Friday it had decided to appoint an ethics and disciplinary investigator in a bid to determine the circumstances surrounding the match on Sept. 14.

The game was delayed by an hour as ticketless Cologne fans tried to gain entry to the stadium. The visitors were issued with...

Gareth Barry says proposed Arsenal moves in the past never 'materialised'

West Brom midfielder Gareth Barry reflects on his career as he prepares to set a new record for Premier League appearances.

West Brom midfielder Gareth Barry has revealed Arsenal tried to sign him twice as he prepares to break the Premier League appearance record at the Emirates Stadium.

The 36-year-old will play in his 633rd top-flight game and eclipse Ryan Giggs' record if he features against the Gunners on Monday.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admitted he wanted to take Barry to north London when he left Aston Villa to join Manchester City in 2009 but could not compete with City's financial muscle.

Arsenal's Arsene Wenger: Playing Alexis Sanchez in cups no punishment

As debate swirls around Arsene Wenger's team selections, Paul Mariner gives us his preferred Arsenal starting XI.
Theo Walcott's first-half goal was just enough for Arsenal to get past League One's Doncaster Rovers.
Arsenal's Arsene Wenger insists leaving Alexis Sanchez on the bench is based on the players fitness rather than transfers speculation.
Craig Burley reacts to claims that Arsenal should operate without Sanchez and Ozil, saying one of the two is expendable.

LONDON -- Arsene Wenger says he is not sending a message to Alexis Sanchez by starting him in cup competitions, adding he is only trying to get the Chile international back to full fitness.

Wenger acknowledged that Sanchez was "not really fit" when he came back from his extended summer holiday -- having played in the summer's Confederations Cup with Chile -- but rejected the notion that he has kept him on the bench for Premier League games as punishment for pushing for a transfer this summer.
