Juan Mata spoke about the Common Goal initiative which sees players donate one percent of their wages to charity.

Former United States international and Arsenal's three-time Olympic champion Heather O'Reilly is among six female players from five countries to sign up for Juan Mata's Common Goal campaign, the charity has announced.

Kelly Smith will take a coaching role with Arsenal Ladies.

England women's record goal scorer Kelly Smith has announced her retirement from football.

Arsenal Ladies striker Smith, who scored 46 goals in 117 appearances for England, announced the news on her website and said she would be taking up a coaching role at the club.

Arsenal Ladies player Casey Stoney has admitted people questioned whether she was a girl when she was growing up because of her ability on a football pitch.

England's all-time record women's goalscorer Kelly Smith has retired from international football.

The 36-year-old Arsenal Ladies striker scored 46 times in 117 appearances for England, playing at the 2007 and 2011 World Cups and at four European Championships, as well as for Great Britain at the 2012 Olympics.

Her role had become reduced in the national squad, with Eni Aluko, Toni Duggan, Natasha Dowie, Lianne Sanderson and Fran Kirby moving ahead of her in the pecking order.
