Despite Jose Mourinho's side creating a host of chances, Mata's second-half strike was the only goal of the game, but it proved to be enough to take them into the last eight of the competition, although the night was slightly soured by the sight of Paul Pogba being forced off with injury after the break.

United finally managed...

Jose Mourinho had been concerned about his players' well-being on a questionable playing surface at the Olimp-2, but following, a shaky opening, United held up well.

If anything the hosts struggled more than the visitors, with Vladimir Granat departing through injury on 17 minutes and Rostov captain Aleksandr Gatskan picking up a 23rd-minute booking that rules...

Tottenham crash out of Europa League as Belgian clubs have perfect day

The FC crew pinpoint the issues that plagued Tottenham against Gent as they crashed out of another European competition.

Ten-man Tottenham Hotspur crashed out of the Europa League in the round of 32 after losing 3-2 on aggregate following Thursday's 2-2 second-leg draw against Belgian club Gent at Wembley.

Harry Kane's own goal and Dele Alli's first-half red card were too much to overcome as Mauricio Pochettino's men failed to reach the quarterfinals of the competition for a fourth consecutive campaign.

However Christian Eriksen gave Tottenham early hope in the 10th minute, levelling the tie with a calm finish...
