Whitecaps, Sounders together in CONCACAF Champions League draw

The Whitecaps are in a difficult group with the Sounders and Olimpia of Honduras.

Reigning champion Club America of Mexico, which captured their sixth CONCACAF club title in April by defeating MLS side Montreal Impact, headlines Group E following the draw for the 2015-16 CONCACAF Champions League held in Miami on Monday.

Real Salt Lake, the 2011 finalists, open their third appearance in the CCL in Group G. Santos Laguna, who won Mexico's Clausura competition, were drawn in Group A.

Ignacio Ambriz named new coach at Club America

Club America introduced Ignacio Ambriz as its new manager on Tuesday.

Former Mexico international Ignacio Ambriz was confirmed as Club America's new coach on Tuesday, replacing Uruguayan Gustavo Matosas at the storied Liga MX institution.

Ambriz declared himself "super-ready" for the challenge and vowed to win over fans, some of whom have questioned on social media whether he has the pedigree to manage the club.

Benfica replace Porto on tour of North America this summer

Benfica manager Jorge Jesus will lead his team across North America this summer.

Portuguese league champions Benfica will replace Porto for four preseason friendlies in North America this summer.

Porto will play Paris Saint-Germain at Toronto on July 18; Fiorentina at East Hartford, Connecticut, six days later; at the New York Red Bulls on July 26; and against Mexico's Club America at July 28 at a site to be announced.

All of the games are part of the International Champions Cup event.

Osaka, Yokohama picked as 2015 Club World Cup host cities

ZURICH -- FIFA says Osaka and Yokohama will be host cities for the 2015 Club World Cup in Japan.

The Nagai Stadium in Osaka previously hosted the athletics world championships in 2007 and three matches at the 2002 World Cup.

The International Stadium in Yokohama staged the 2002 World Cup final and has previously hosted six Club World Cup finals.

Club America and manager Gustavo Matosas part ways

Club America won the CONCACAF Champions League under Gustavo Matosas, who stepped down on Tuesday.

Gustavo Matosas lasted just five months and a day at Club America, with the club parting ways with the coach on Tuesday, following the team's exit in the Clausura 2015 quarterfinal against Pachuca on Saturday.

"We've ended the working relationship with Gustavo Matosas and his coaching staff by mutual agreement and in a cordial manner," sporting president Ricardo Pelaez said at a news conference in Mexico City.
