America flying, Leones Negros flounder

Morelia and Tijuana shared the points in a very close match.

Week 4 of the Apertura has drawn to a close in Mexico.

As the season continues to progress, certain trends and observations are becoming more evident. Eleven points now separate the first- and last-place teams -- America and Leones Negros respectively.

- Marshall: Lack of firepower hurting Chivas
- Faitelson: Goals not coming for Cruz Azul

America seems to be breezing through the competition and, along with Atlas, is one of only two undefeated teams in the Apertura.

At the very bottom of the table is Leones Negros. The 0-0 tie against Toluca produced their only point this season. However, the squad has played only three games so far and it wouldn't be startling if they were able to surpass Morelia next week.

As for the other squads, and the Liga MX in general, here are five stories that stood out from this weekend.

Morelia have yet to score

Morelia are scoreless in their first four matches this season, which may not seem season-ending -- but it might be when one considers the fact that they are traveling to the Azteca next week to play Club America. America have allowed only two goals in the first four matches and have amassed 10 against their competition.

Los Monarcas should feel especially lucky to even have a point from Friday's game after Tijuana's Cristian Pellerano missed a penalty kick.

Camilo Sanvezzo has carried Queretaro to third place

Camilo Sanvezzo already has three goals and two assists for Queretaro this Apertura. Sanvezzo, who is already playing better than his last season, seems to be finding his form at the perfect time for los Gallos Blancos.

Before arriving to Mexico, the 26-year-old Brazilian was phenomenal during his last season with the Vancouver Whitecaps in the MLS during 2013. Could he regain the form he had in MLS?

Chivas are once again vulnerable

Was it the friendly against Bayern Munich? Perhaps the involvement in the Copa MX? Either way, Carlos Bustos' squad had a decent start to the season but completely fell apart once they took on Pachuca over the weekend.

Granted, Pachuca's Oscar Perez was excellent during the game, but Chivas looked worrisome throughout the match, especially in defense. Ariel Nahuelpan was able to bully the Chivas back line and scored twice during his time on the pitch.

The loss highlights Chivas' current vulnerability and their tenuous grasp on matches. A relegation battle once again looks in the cards for the Guadalajara side.

Anything goes when Leon plays

Leon appear to be the new Santos when it comes to goals for and against. In four games, the team has scored nine goals, but allowed the same number as well.

There is plenty to be happy about in the attack for Leon fans, but the defense will remain an issue for quite some time. With Rafael Marquez leaving for Italy, los Esmeraldas will be missing a significant leader and captain in the back. Juan Ignacio Gonzalez and Jonny Magallon will have big shoes to fill in the middle of the Leon's defence this season.

As for the attack, Mauro Boselli and Carlos Pena are working well going forward and may have to create a few more opportunities on net this season to compensate for the defensive woes.

Did Jose Luis Trejo coach his last game for Pumas?

Here's a stat -- Pumas are the only team so far this season who have yet to gain even one point from home. That, along with their three losses in a row, puts an immense amount of pressure on head coach Jose Luis Trejo.

Trejo has only been in charge since last September, but it's no secret that the Liga MX is infamously fickle when it comes to head coaches.

While Jose Luis attempted to dodge any indications of him being fired, Sporting vice president Mario Trejo decided to step down from his role.

All signs seem to indicate that Jose Luis will be the first Liga MX coach to be dropped this season.
