AmaZulu dump Cape Town City out of Telkom Knockout

AmaZulu completed the quarterfinal line-up of the 2018 Telkom Knockout after defeating MTN8 champions Cape Town City 2-0 at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi on Tuesday. 

Argentine forward Emiliano Tade and Bongi Ntuli netted the goals for Usuthu, who had to absorb plenty of City pressure, but managed to keep the visitors down to just a few clear-cut chances.

The draw for the next stage was conducted directly after the final whistle and sees AmaZulu host Orlando Pirates in the next round.


AmaZulu docked six league points after CAS upholds FIFA ruling

AmaZulu have been docked six points in the country's Absa Premiership, plunging the club to the foot of the table just a fifth of the way through the campaign.

Vilakazi rescues late point for Sundowns at AmaZulu

Sibusiso Vilakazi spared the blushes of Mamelodi Sundowns with a late equaliser as the defending Absa Premiership champions played to a thrilling 3-3 draw with AmaZulu at the King Zwelithini Stadium in KwaMashu on Sunday.

Sundowns looked to be headed for defeat when their contracted striker Bonginkosi Ntuli netted in his first game back at AmaZulu on loan, but Vilakazi showed good awareness to poke home the equaliser in a fixture that provided a feast of goals.

South African veteran Nomvethe announces retirement

Veteran South African striker Siyabonga Nomvethe announced his retirement from football on Friday.

The 40-year-old forward will remain with AmaZulu until the end of his current contract with Cavin Johnson's side, which expires in December.

Nomvethe hangs up his boots as the leading scorer in the Premier Soccer League, having found the back of the net 121 times domestically, while scoring 16 times in 78 appearances for South Africa in a 21-year career.
