Akbar Nawas linked to Warriors' coaching job after Global-Cebu exit

The reign of Singaporean coach Akbar Nawas at Philippines Football League (PFL) outfit Global-Cebu FC has come to an end, with former assistant Marjo Allado installed as interim boss.

The 42-year-old former Tampines Rovers boss had arrived last May as a technical consultant before taking the top job a month later.

His exit comes as a surprise after overseeing improvements in the ambitious side during his six months in charge, and opens the door to taking over at Warriors FC.

Albirex Niigata (S) captain Kento Nagasaki moves to Thai Honda

Albirex Niigata (S) skipper Kento Nagasaki has decided to quit the S.League champions and head for a fresh challenge in Thai League 2 (T2) by joining recently relegated Thai Honda.

Albirex Niigata (S) S.League champions 'to look for new clubs'

The quadruple-winning side of Albirex Niigata (S) may quickly fall apart because of an uncertainty over the future of S.League funding.

According to chairman Daisuke Korenaga, Albirex's all-conquering squad is unlikely to stay intact, with players already in search of new clubs.

The S.League is still waiting to find out the extent of its 2018 funding from the Tote Board, which affects the budgets of all clubs.

Albirex beat Global in Singapore Cup final for second trophy quadruple

Albirex Niigata (S) completed a clean sweep of all four domestic trophies in Singapore for a second straight season after overcoming Philippines invitees Global-Cebu FC on penalties in the Singapore Cup final at Jalan Besar Stadium on Saturday night.
