Ahmed Hegazi completes permanent West Brom move from from Al Ahly

West Brom have completed the signing of Egypt international defender Ahmed Hegazi on a permanent deal.

The 26-year-old has been on loan from Al Ahly, joining Albion in July, and the option has been taken to prolong his stay at The Hawthorns.

An undisclosed fee has been agreed between the two clubs and Hegazi has signed a contract until the summer of 2022.

Hegazi was brought to the club by former boss Tony Pulis but new manager Alan Pardew has welcomed the decision to keep the player.

Ahmed Hegazi has completed his move to West Brom.

West Brom have strengthened their defensive options with the signing of Egypt international Ahmed Hegazi.

Albion have been tracking the 26-year-old centre-half since his performances caught their eye during the African Nations Cup at the start of the year.

Hegazi has moved to the Hawthorns on a year-long loan from Al Ahly, but West Brom have the option to make it a permanent deal.

Big wins for Al Ahly, Etoile du Sahel in Caf Champions League

Egyptian side Al Ahly and Etoile du Sahel from Tunisia were the big winners on a night of Caf Champions League group phase action on Tuesday that otherwise produced three draws.

Ahly moved to the top of Group D after a 2-0 success over Coton Sport at the Roumdé Adjia Stadium in Garoua.

Both goals came inside the opening 14 minutes as Ahly made a dream start, with Nigerian U23 international Junior Ajayi breaking the deadlock.

CAF Champions League Group Stage draw

African champions Mamelodi Sundowns will fight to retain their CAF Champions League title following the group stage draw held in Cairo on Wednesday.

The first round of group fixtures will start on the weekend of May 12.

The Brazilians will face old foe AS Vita in Group C, as well as Saint George S.C. of Ethiopia and Espérance Sportive de Tunis of Tunisia.
