Atletico to help raise funds for Egypt terror victims with Al Ahly friendly

Atletico Madrid will play Egyptian side Al Ahly in Alexandria later this month in a "Match for Peace" to raise funds for the families of victims of the Nov. 24 terror attack in Egypt.

The match takes place at the Borgh-al-Arab Stadium, which has an 84,000 capacity, on Dec. 30.

The clubs will donate 100 percent of the revenue to the relatives of victims. More than 300 people were killed and 128 injured when a bomb exploded inside a mosque on the Sinai Peninsula.

Former Malaysia head coach and ex-Chelsea defender Allan Harris has died at the age of 74.

Harris was in charge of Harimau Malaya from 2001 to 2004, a period in which there was a fourth-placed finish in the AFF Cup, and silver and bronze medals at the Southeast Asia (SEA) Games.

While his overall record was modest, there were some memorable results at the 2002 AFF Cup. In romping to first place in their group, the Malaysians dismissed rivals and hosts Singapore 4-0 and also beat Thailand 3-1.

Wydad Casablanca crowned African champions

Wydad Casablanca are the top team on the African continent for the first time in 25 years after a 1-0 home victory over Al Ahly in the second leg of their Champions League final secured a 2-1 aggregate win in Casablanca on Saturday.

Walid El-Karti's second-half strike proved the decisive moment on the night as Wydad proved worthy winners of Africa's elite competition to qualify for the FIFA Club World Cup that will be played in the United Arab Emirates from Dec. 6-16.

CAF Champions League final preview: Wydad & Ahly clash in continental showpiece

Moroccan heavyweights Wydad Casablanca and Egyptian giants Al Ahly will clash in the second leg of the CAF Champions League final in Casablanca on Saturday, after the two sides shared a 1-1 draw in the first leg.

The North African duo met in Alexandria last weekend, as Wydad left Egypt with a moral victory, with Achraf Bencharki scoring an away goal to cancel out Moamen Zakaria's third-minute opener.

CAF Champions League hopefuls Al Ahly watched by too many fans

With an CAF (African) Champions League final coming up this weekend, Egyptian side Al Ahly had their preparations thrown off when the club's Tuesday training session had to be cancelled.

This was due to the thousands of fans who flocked to the Mokhtar El-Tetsh Stadium in Cairo to watch their heroes go through their paces.

Indeed, so many supporters descended on the session that they quickly spilled out from the stands and on to the perimeter of the pitch.
