Australia defender Brad Smith signs for Bournemouth from Liverpool

Brad Smith made four Premier League appearances last season.

Bournemouth have announced the signing of Australia left-back Brad Smith from Liverpool on a four-year contract.

Smith, 22, arrives from Liverpool for an undisclosed fee and becomes Bournemouth's sixth signing of the summer.

The full-back, who made 11 first-team appearances for the Reds, said on his new club's official website: "I'm really looking forward to the opportunity here.

Bournemouth winger Max Gradel has signed a new four-year contract which will keep him at the Vitality Stadium until 2020.

The 28-year-old, who signed in the summer from St Etienne, made just 14 Premier League appearances for the Cherries last season after a six-month lay-off with a cruciate knee ligament injury.

Gradel had an initial spell on the south coast on loan from Leicester back in 2007 and chief executive Neill Blake is pleased to see the Ivory Coast international extend his stay.

Rising Socceroos star Brad Smith is on the verge of leaving Liverpool for fellow English Premier League side Bournemouth.

The 22-year-old left-back has agreed personal terms to a £6 million move and is flying back to England from the Reds' U.S. tour to undergo a medical, according various UK media reports.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe says that his aim is to take his new young players "to new levels" in the Premier League this season.
