Josh King puts the cherry on top of Bournemouth's home season

Bournemouth gave the fans something to cheer about by claiming a 2-1 win against Burnley in their last home game of the season. Not only did they deliver three points, but the players put in a great team performance from front to back. There's a realistic chance the club could now secure a top-10 finish with a win against Leicester in the last game of the season.

Positives

Signing off the 2016-17 season at the Vitality Stadium with a win was the main positive. Also, Josh King continued his scoring streak and Dan Gosling got back on the pitch after a spell with injury.

Negatives

Just as striker Lys Mousset started to show signs of positivity and intelligent play, he was forced off with injury, which wasn't good to see. It's looking increasingly likely that he could be on his way out of Bournemouth, potentially on a loan deal for next season. Apart from that, there were no other real negatives.

Manager

10 -- No complaints on Eddie Howe's behalf yet again. He chose the right team and the substitutions he made positively influenced the match.

Player ratings: (1-10; 10=best. Players introduced after 70 minutes get no rating)

GK Artur Boruc, 7 -- The shot stopper wasn't called into action much, but when he was needed he did well enough. However, he did kick the ball unnecessarily out of the play a couple of times and his distribution continues to be shaky.

DF Adam Smith, 8 -- Defensively, Smith was very good and he halted any Burnley attacks down his channel with relative ease. Offensively he was just as reliable, but he usually is when the Cherries are on the front foot. If Smith performed like this more often he would be the first name on the team sheet and definitely be attracting attention from other clubs.

DF Simon Francis, 7 -- A decent display from the Bournemouth skipper. He's finally starting to show some real authority at the back and definitely looks a better player in central defence, rather than as a right-back as seen earlier this season on a number of occasions.

DF Steve Cook, 7 -- Another good performance for the Cherries. Cook cleared the ball when he needed to and even displayed some impressive long-range passing at times. However, he was beaten in the air for the equalising goal, which was the only downer.

DF Charlie Daniels, 7 -- The 30-year-old continued in his good run of form with another solid 90 minutes. His positioning was superb, and the Clarets had little joy when they tried attacking down his flank, apart from once and that was when they scored.

Josh King's goal in the 85th minute gave Bournemouth a 2-1 win over Burnley.

MF Junior Stanislas, 8 -- Some delightful crossing and a very impressive opening goal were two aspects of a great showing from Stanislas. When he's on form, he's outstanding.

MF Harry Arter, 7 -- The Republic of Ireland international battled well in the centre of the park and won more than his fair share of 50-50 duels. His partnership with Cook in the middle has improved dramatically since the pair's last outing against Stoke.

MF Lewis Cook, 7 -- A brilliant diagonal ball to find Stanislas ensured that Cook ends the season with at least one assist to his name. It was actually a much better game from the former Leeds player. He didn't lose the ball often and he frequently made the right passes at the right time.

MF Marc Pugh, 7 -- Caused havoc down the flank on a number of occasions and Pugh just looked like a man simply enjoying playing football with no pressure. He delivered a couple of superb crosses which were begging to be tapped into the back of the net.

FW Josh King, 8 -- Bournemouth's front man bagged the winning goal in the 85th minute and could have easily had a couple before that. King constantly stretched the Burnley back line and posed a threat throughout the match. Great performance.

FW Lys Mousset, 6 -- It was a better game from the summer signing but it was hardly something to shout about. His 15th-minute chest control and swift turn was the highlight of an otherwise quiet 65 minutes before he was subbed off due to injury.

Substitutes

MF Ryan Fraser, 7 -- Injected some more energy into Bournemouth's buildup play and also pressed the Burnley midfield.

MF Dan Gosling, N/R -- Arrived too late to really have an impact on the game but it was good to see Gosling back out on the pitch after a spell out with injury.

FW Jordon Ibe, N/R -- Came on in the 87th minute.
