Adelaide United and Sydney FC shared the spoils.

Adelaide United's unbeaten run continued as they drew 2-2 with Sydney FC in the A-League.

United rested a number of regular starters with half an eye on Tuesday's Asian Champions League fixture against Shandong Luneng, but the changes did not seem to hamper the home side and they took the lead after just two minutes.

There was a touch of fortune about the goal, with a clearance cannoning back off the shins of Sergio Cirio to flash past the goalkeeper, but it was a deserved lead for the division's...

The winners will go into Group F of the ACL, with Sanfrecce Hiroshima, FC Seoul and Buriram United.

Marcelo Carrusca celeb 20151211
Marcelo Carrusca hit the winning goal for Adelaide.

In-form Adelaide United won for the fourth time in a row as a single goal was enough to see off Newcastle Jets at Coopers Stadium on Sunday.

The goal, scored by Marcelo Carrusca as half-time loomed, took their unbeaten run to nine -- but they had to withstand some pressure from the Jets to hold their lead.

Carrusca struck when Bruce Djite got the better of defender Daniel Mullen before firing in a shot which ricocheted for the attacking midfielder to convert from close range.

Brisbane Roar's dramatic collapse in form continued on Friday as they were thrashed 4-1 at home by Adelaide United.

After being clear at the top of the table, the Roar are now three without a win and have lost back-to-back games conceding four goals in each match. Both Western Sydney Wanderers and Sydney FC have closed to within a point and can go top when they play this week.

Adelaide took the lead in the 19th minute, though the goal involved a large slice of luck. Craig Goodwin produced a...

Shane Smeltz strikes late for Sydney FC at Western Sydney Wanderers

A late goal from Shane Smeltz handed Sydney FC a 2-1 win over rivals Western Sydney Wanderers in the A-League.

Jacques Faty opened the scoring for the visitors on 22 minutes but the Wanderers hit back in the second half through Dario Vidosic.

Smeltz had the final say in the derby, scoring in the 90th minute with a thumping effort that put his side level on points with their second-placed opponents.

Elsewhere, Adelaide United defeated bottom-of-the-table Central Coast Mariners 3-1 with all the goals...
