Newport stole a march on their Sky Bet League Two play-off rivals and moved up to sixth by beating Accrington 2-0 at the Store First Stadium on Friday night.

The Exiles shaded a tight affair with two second-half goals, the first coming from Max Porter's cross - which Aaron O'Connor claimed he had deftly flicked under Scott Davies' body - before substitute Shaun Jeffers tapped in a second in stoppage time.

Chances were sparse in the first period but the hosts started with more intent as Miles Storey...

Josh Windass broke York's hearts with a late equaliser in the 2-2 draw at Accrington.

York thought they were on course for a vital three points in their battle against the drop after top scorer Jake Hyde fired home John McCombe's pass from close range 14 minutes from time.

However Windass blasted home an 89th minute 20-yard free-kick to rescue a point for his mid-table side.

City were the better team in the first half with Spurs loanee Shaq Coulthirst the liveliest player on the pitch but neither goalkeeper...

Alfie Mawson's deflected goal saved a point for Wycombe as their push for promotion took a slight knock after a 2-2 draw against Accrington.

The Chairboys had the chance to go top of League Two for at least 24 hours with victory but despite dominating the match they dropped to third, four points clear of fourth-placed Bury.

Wycombe took a deserved lead after half an hour when Sam Saunders' cross was knocked down by Paul Hayes at the back post and Sam Wood's header found the bottom corner.

Burton moved three points clear at the top of Sky Bet League Two after a 3-0 win at home to hard-working Accrington.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's side rarely found top gear but goals from Damien McCrory, Stuart Beavon and Matty Palmer enabled them to avenge last month's defeat at the Store First Stadium.

Burton were indebted to goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin with 11 minutes on the clock, the Scottish stopper reacting superbly to tip the ball round a post after Kal Naismith's shot took a big deflection.

Accrington held on for a 1-1 draw with Portsmouth despite playing for 37 minutes with 10 men.

Stanley striker Josh Windass opening the scoring with a 25-yard free-kick after 16 minutes for his third in four games.

Portsmouth came straight back and Terry Gornell cleared a Danny Hollands effort off the line before, from the resulting corner, a punch by keeper Scott Davies fell straight to Ryan Taylor who headed home the 20th-minute equaliser.

Stanley could have gone ahead through Kal Naismith, Andy Procter,...
