Josh Windass scored his first league goal to earn a 1-0 win for Accrington and end Burton's 13-game unbeaten run.

The table topping Brewers last tasted defeat back in November but they offered little up front against mid-table Accrington in front of a crowd of just 919.

It meant their lead at the top remained at just three points as they failed to capitalise on playing when their rivals were not in action.

Windass, son of Hull legend Dean, was Stanley's danger man from the off, trying a chip from distance...

Substitute Shay McCartan denied Russell Milton his first win as Cheltenham boss following a 1-1 draw with Accrington.

Milton was in his second game in charge of the relegation-threatened Robins and was celebrating as a Matt Richards cross was headed home by Wes Burns in the 31st minute for his fifth goal of the season.

It was against the run of play with Stanley dominating possession in the first half without creating many clear-cut chances.

Town pressed to extend their lead at the start of the second...

Southend's unbeaten run came to end with a shock 2-1 defeat to Accrington at Roots Hall.

The Shrimpers went in to the game without a defeat in 10 outings, but Phil Brown's side rarely looked like scoring against Stanley, who took all three points thanks to second-half strikes from Piero Mingoia and Terry Gornell.

Southend wasted a great chance to go in front midway through the first half as Joe Pigott hit the crossbar but Accrington almost netted when Luke Joyce's volley was headed off the line by...

Terry Gornell was the Accrington hero as he scored a late winner to secure a much-needed 1-0 win against Oxford.

Gornell, in his third spell with the Reds after signing on deadline day, hooked the ball over his shoulder with 90 minutes on the clock after Kal Naismith's cross was not properly cleared.

It was what Stanley needed as they had lost their previous five games and in the build up to Tuesday night boss John Coleman had called this the biggest game of his managerial career.

It was a deserved...

Plymouth claimed their first League Two win of the year by beating Accrington 1-0 at Home Park.

John Sheridan's promotion chasing side ended a seven-match streak without a win thanks to forward Lewis Alessandra's superb 42nd-minute solo winner.

Alessandra cut in from the left and despite the acute angle, steered to ball home past bemused Stanley keeper Scott Davies.

It was no more than the home side deserved for their first half dominance although just before the goal Stanley danger man Josh Windass...
