Ruud Krol signs on for second spell with CS Sfaxien

Dutch coach Ruud Krol has returned to Tunisian side CS Sfaxien after signing a one-year contract, the club confirmed on Thursday.

Krol was previously with the team in 2012 and 2013, and steered them to a surprise Tunisian league title, as well as the CAF Confederation Cup.

The 69-year-old is well respected in Tunisia, where he also briefly coached Esperance, and had a spell as caretaker coach of the national side ahead of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Krol has a reputation of creating championship-winning sides after he also took South African giants Orlando Pirates to the title in the 2010/11 season, a year in which they claimed a domestic 'Treble' with the Nedbank Cup and MTN8.

Despite that success he did not have his contract renewed and has since worked mostly in North Africa, taking a job with Libyan side Al-Ahli Tripoli, Moroccan outfit Raja Casablanca and Club Africain in Tunisia.

Krol was revered as a player, spending most of his career with Ajax Amsterdam, but also had a notable spell with Italian side Napoli.

He played 83 times for the Netherlands over 14 years, and featured in the 1974 and 1978 World Cup finals that the Dutch lost.
