Gregorio Manzano leads Guizhou Zhicheng to second straight CSL win

Gregorio Manzano has helped turn Guizhou Zhicheng's form around since his appointment in May 2017.
Gregorio Manzano has galvanised Guizhou Zhicheng since taking over.

Nikica Jelavic scored his fifth goal of the season to give Gregorio Manzano his second straight win as Guizhou Zhicheng's new head coach as Henan Jianye were beaten 1-0.

Jelavic netted with just six minutes remaining as Guizhou climbed to eighth in the standings while Henan remain just above the relegation spots in 14th place.

"The three points are crucial to both sides," the former Atletico Madrid coach said. "We are working hard to get away from the relegation zone, so today every player has given his best to win the game.

"This win means a lot to us. It's not easy for a team like us to win two successive games, so this is an achievement for us. We are very happy and I believe the fans are also very happy."

Brown Ideye, meanwhile, scored just after the restart to earn Tianjin Teda a share of the points in a 1-1 draw against Changchun Yatai, after Sun Jie had given the home side the lead in the 16th minute.

The win moved Jaime Pacheco's team into 12th place, one spot ahead of Changchun.
