Shandong Luneng Taishan appoint Felix Magath to replace Mano Menezes

Felix Magath has been confirmed as the new manager of Chinese Super League club Shandong Luneng Taishan.

Magath, who won Bundesliga titles during his stints in charge of Bayern Munich and Wolfsburg, is taking on his first managerial role since his sacking at Fulham in September 2014.

The 62-year-old, who oversaw Fulham's relegation from the Premier League in his first role outside Germany, posted on his Facebook account to say he is looking forward to the challenge in China.

"I am very interested in the big awakening of Chinese football," he added.

Shandong also confirmed the appointment on their official website.

Magath succeeds former Brazil coach Mano Menezes, who left the club on Tuesday with the three-time Chinese Super League champions struggling for results 11 games into the season.
