New boss Vitor Pereira targets CSL title triumph with Shanghai SIPG

Vitor Pereira has said it is 'a challenge to coach such an ambitious club.'

New Shanghai SIPG coach Vitor Pereira set his sights on the club's first Chinese Super League title after taking over from Andre Villas-Boas.

Pereira, who also succeeded Villas-Boas at Porto in 2011, was officially appointed on Tuesday and said: "I want to thank SIPG for putting their trust in me.

"For me, it's a challenge to coach such an ambitious club.

"This is a top challenge. The Chinese Super League is a league with huge potential, with so many top coaches and big name players gathering here.


Vitor Pereira replaces Villas-Boas as Shanghai SIPG coach

Vitor Pereira takes over from Andre Villas-Boas at Chinese Super League side Shanghai SIPG.

Shanghai SIPG have appointed Vitor Pereira to replace Andre Villas-Boas as head coach after the 49-year-old Portuguese was unveiled at a ceremony in Shanghai on Tuesday.

Pereira, who also succeeded Villas-Boas when he left Porto to take over at Chelsea in the summer of 2011, will be the latest coach to attempt to lead SIPG to the Chinese Super League (CSL) title.

SIPG finished second last season and also reached the final of the Chinese FA Cup and the semifinals of the AFC Champions League.


Chongqing Lifan appoint former Portugal boss Paulo Bento

Former Portugal coach Paulo Bento has been appointed head coach of Chongqing Lifan, the Chinese Super League club announced on Monday.

Bento takes over from South Korea's Chang Woe-Ryong, who stepped down from the role on Sunday, and has been tasked with maintaining the club's top-flight status while helping develop young talent for the future.

Former Portugal boss Paulo Bento is favourite to take over from Chang Woe-ryong at Chongqing Lifan.

Chinese Super League side Chongqing Lifan have parted company with South Korean coach Chang Woe-ryong, the club announced, with former Portugal coach Paulo Bento linked with the post.

Chang led Chongqing to 10th in the league standings last season after an eighth place finish in 2016, but has been allowed to leave by the club after two years in charge.
