Paulinho's generosity praised by Guangzhou Evergrande official

Barca coach Ernesto Valverde defends the club's purchase of Paulinho, and what he brings to strengthen the squad.

Paulinho has been hailed for his generosity after leaving Guangzhou Evergrande to join Barcelona earlier this week.

The 29-year-old brought his two-year stint in the Chinese Super League to a close when he left in a €40 million deal on Monday, but not before giving the keys of his Mercedes-Benz to his driver, according to a senior Evergrande official.

"Paulinho never put on any airs," club official Liang Ke said on his Weibo account. "He says hello or thank you to almost everybody and always...

Shenhua give Carlos Tevez permission to return to Argentina for treatment

Carlos Tevez is being linked with a return to Boca Juniors despite only joining Shanghai Shenhua in December.

Shanghai Shenhua have granted Carlos Tevez permission to return to Argentina for treatment on a calf injury after receiving a written guarantee he will return before the end of the month, according to the South China Morning Post

Tevez has played just 11 games and scored only twice since joining Shenhua at the start of the Chinese Super League season from Boca Juniors in a two-year deal for a transfer fee of €11 million.

The 33-year-old former Manchester City and Juventus striker has...

John Obi Mikel returns after four-month injury lay-off

Nigeria captain John Mikel Obi returned to the pitch on Monday after a four-month injury lay-off, starting for Tianjin TEDA in the Chinese Super League.

The 30-year-old played all 90 minutes, but his presence was not enough as Tianjin suffered a 2-0 loss at home to Hebei CFFC.

The Super Eagles captain joined the club from English Premier League champions Chelsea in January, but was forced to undergo hip surgery in late April. In his absence, his new club careened all the way down to the penultimate...

Paulinho move to Barcelona adds credibility to Chinese Super League

Guangzhou Evergrande have a one-point lead atop the CSL over Andre Villas-Boas' Shanghai SIPG.
The FC crew discredit Neymar's push for Barcelona to bring in Brazilian teammate Paulinho.

Paulinho arrived in China in 2015 with a need to reinvent himself after an underwhelming spell with Tottenham Hotspur. Two years and two months later, the Brazilian is leaving Guangzhou Evergrande for Barcelona. That simple fact is, for Asian football, historic.

The Chinese Super League (CSL) has been painted as a semi-retirement home for unambitious and greedy South Americans and Europeans. This transfer shows that there may be more to it than that.

"Losing Paulinho is a loss for Evergrande, but...

Ezequiel Lavezzi brace lifts Pellegrini's Hebei CFFC to fifth in CSL

AFC CL quarterfinal between the SIPG, and Evergrande promises much watch football says FC's Jason Dasey and Dez Corkhill.

Ezequiel Lavezzi's brace moved Hebei CFFC back up into fifth in the Chinese Super League (CSL) standings as Manuel Pellegrini's side maintained their hope of a place in next year's AFC Champions League with a 2-0 win over Tianjin Teda.

Lavezzi scored a goal in each half to move Hebei on to 36 points, two fewer than third placed Shandong Luneng, as the battle for the final place in the continental club championship intensifies.
