Chievo have announced they will be appealing a decision by the Lega Serie A to ban their coach Rolando Maran for one match.
Chievo boss Maran was seen on television making a "blasphemous expression," according to the governing body, after Stefan de Vrij had scored for Lazio to cancel out Alessandro Gamberini's opener in Sunday's 1-1 draw.
As a result, Maran is now set to miss Chievo's trip to Udinese on Sunday after being banned by the Lega Serie A for his conduct at the weekend.
"After a goal was scored by the opponents, Mr Rolando Maran, the coach of Chievo, without referring to anybody present, was nevertheless clearly seen by the television cameras while he made a blasphemous expression, on two occasions," read the disciplinary report published by the Lega Serie A.
"These could be read from his lips without any reasonable doubt and, as a result, such behaviour must be sanctioned."
However, Chievo have said that they are to appeal the decision made by the Lega Serie A in a statement published on their website.
"Chievo Verona have noted the decision to penalise coach Rolando Maran," the statement read. "The club announces that it will appeal against this sanction."
